I call it poetic justice, back in the day, when FiM was starting to get big in early 2011, bronies were all smug, saying they were the one and only reason why My Little Pony was popular, as if the franchise didn't have decades of legacy behind, they did constantly shit on earlier gens and said gen 4 was best thing ever thanks to them, and now? bronies are worried, because the tables have turned.
It is going to be fun seeing whatever is left of the fandom die with a whimper in the next few years, specially if gen 5 manages to get a massive following.

Gen 5 will probably be successful, just not with the brony crowd like FiM was. Some bronies will love Gen 5 since they're passionate about the series as a whole, but it'll require Lightning to strike multiple times in order for Gen 5 to be actually be considered as good as Gen 4.
Apparently there's people in the fandom who are more concerned about using the proper pronouns of a trans person and being politically correct than they do about groomin, lying and manipulation.

I think it's because Twilight is autistic in a flattering way; super intelligent and magical, with very few friends - but only because she's too busy studying and doing important things.
The other autistic pony, Fluttershy, is depicted as a coward and a wimp, so while Fluttershy attracts a lot of thirst from normies and cloppers and dudebro bronies, I think the most acutely autistic bronies (Jin, Graeme) are put off by that. Fluttershy is the autist they fear they are, Twilight is the autist they aspire to be.
