So a week or so ago I posted in another thread that I'd been sorting through a box of my Great Aunts old stuff and come across a large number of vaguely interesting things like photographs and documents pertaining to both my Grandfather and Great Grandfather. For confusions sake both these men were called Charles Luck, both served in India and both achieved at one time or other the rank of Major which makes figuring out which one a particular item is relevant to is a pain in the ass. Nevertheless a casual winner rating showed me that there is at least one other person on the forums who is interested in them so, commencing a super long OP of images starting... NOW:
This is from WW1 and so was sent to my Great Grandfather who I believe was serving in the trenches at the time. It more or less says "We see you've gone over the top and killed the buggers 6 times in a month, well done, keep doing it, in fact EVERYBODY should be doing it, carry on."
This is an order of service for Maundy Thursday which is an English thing where the reigning monarch gives out silver coins to, fuck it this: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Royal_Maundy
Anyway my Great Grandfather ended his career as a Yeoman of The Guard, IE the kings bodyguard. He also took part in the Maundy services as an escort to The Lord High Almoner (dude with all the bling) and therefore members of my family were able to attend.
Here are their tickets, albeit from a different year. I believe my great aunts were the ones who used them.
God damn photos won't rotate. Anyway, Peshawar India probably sometime in the late 1920s. I don't know if my Great Grandfather is in this or not as clear photos of his face at this time don't seem to exist. Center back row is likely to be him, silly grin, black hat.
My Grandfather as a young man, probably just before the outbreak of WW2.
My Great Grandfather in his capacity as Yeoman Of The Guard. Likely taken at the Tower Of London.
A nice Christmas card from his bosses son. You know how it is, everybody at work hands round the card. Anyway Edward Prince of Wales. Signature is genuine, a lot of facsimiles float about these days but I've had this authenticated.
Anyway there's a few to be going with. I've got TONS more so I may update at some point aaaaaaaand cue powerlevel ratings.
