As someone who has spent a lot of time researching trans history, this is more or less correct. "Assigned sex" terminology was originally used by and for intersex people, but since the late 90s (coinciding with the introduction of queer theory into academic spheres à la Leslie Feinberg), the trans takeover has forced intersex advocates to shift to "coercively assigned" to appease them. It rapidly became popular on tumblr in the 2010s, and it was only later that it came to light that they were being ~oh so problematic~ and usage of "assigned male/female" has fallen out in favor of "transmisogyny affected/exempt" (TMA/TME) for some godawful reason. Acknowledging sex in any capacity is liable to get you called a TERF at this point."CAMAB/CAFAB" are not terms from intersex communities, or at least, that isn't where they started. I remember that shift and iirc those terms came from trans groups trying to come to a compromise with them when they were like "whoopsie, guess we're being ~problematic."
Nady still using AFAB/AMAB means she's really behind on the times! What TERF scum!
Intersex advocates HATE being grouped in with trans advocates for this very reason. Any intersex advocacy group worth their salt draws a hard line between intersex conditions and transgenderism.Just like most sane humans, the majority of them view all this trans stuff with indifference, confusion, and/or disgust,
