NBA makes its stand: If you can’t handle player protest, then move on -

I hoped the ratings would be worse, actually. The average NBA regular season game was around 2M viewers before Wu Flu shenanigans, steadily dropping for the last few years. Still terrible numbers considering we'd assume fans would be yearning to watch any sports now, as we've seen with golf and MMA in general, but I wanted scorched earth.

My question is how exactly does that fix any of the problems impacting black lives, including police brutality?

I mean...its a bunch of rich athletes kneeling. What good does that do?
Even though there are athletes that make efforts to give back to the community in some way, very few invest the resources in efforts that help bring communities together. BLM and other activist movements are more focused on driving a bigger wedge between Blacks and everyone else instead of working to seek some sort of common ground that brings people together.

Kneeling to "raise awareness" has become redundant and meaningless now that everyone is doing it. I also wonder if the NBA Players Union has bullied strongly encouraged players that might not want to kneel to do so in the name of presenting unity that doesn't exist.

Although people are anxious for any sort of entertainment, many see the "Black Lives Matter" prominently painted on the court and the uniforms with pre-approved SJW messages and change the channel. As I've stated elsewhere, people watch these games as a way to temporarily escape from all the crap in the world; they don't want to see that crap permeate their preferred entertainment, and they won't watch it if push comes to shove.

I really don't care if they kneel or whatever.

It doesn't do anything, but if they did the things to actually help the black community they would get canceled like Bill Cosby.

How many times do leagues have to see that fans hate the woke shit? They saw the NFL's ratings tank a few years back. And yet again they're diving in headlong, including the NFL.

How does that saying go, "The definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over and expecting a different outcome?"

These people are certifiably insane.

What part of "people want escapism" do these fuckers not understand?

I was watching The Last Dance docu-series about Jordan's run with the Bulls and their last championship, and its fantastic. But there was one part of it talking about the "controversies" surrounding MJ, one of which being him refusing to openly back a Democratic candidate running in his home state. Barack Obama even got on there and said he was disappointed in MJ, and for his comments about "Republicans buy shoes too".

They also covered the part about his "gambling problems", a scandal that the media blew out of proportions to insane degrees, like they always do. So really, all in trying to point out Jordan's controversies, all it showed me is that the Left is a goddamn "You're either with us or against us" cult, and the media likes to destroy people for the sake of the sexy headline. It was true in the mid-90s and its even worse now.

So apparently, just because Jordan is a public figure, he's supposed to be a political activist? Seriously? I watch sports as a way to get away from the politics and the crap in the world. Now those elements have seeped into everything, and my only hope for true escapism is to watch stuff from decades ago. Its crazy. And now, guess what. SILENCE IS VIOLENCE YO! So you can't even stay quiet anymore. Hell, that's probably what alot of these leagues and athletes really feel right now. If we don't say something, they'll try to ruin us.

And "raising awareness" is bullshit because its everywhere on the news, its everywhere on social media and the internet, and its every where in every goddamn thing that's out there today. WE FUCKING KNOW! ITS MORE COMMON THAN FUCKING AIR!

The Thursday night game which was the Lakers vs Rockets which are two MARQUEE teams. One featuring the most popular/storied franchise in history and the current most popular player in the world Lebron James vs a team with star power and multiple MVPs Russell Westbrook and James Harden. Drew a total of 1.59 million viewers. That's insane. For comparison, Hannity and Tucker had 3.8 and 3.5 million respectively.

Yikes. MLB didn't do much better on broadcast TV.

1. Young Sheldon - 4.004 million
2. Mom - 3.013
3. To Tell the Truth - 2.962
4. Holey Moley - 2.951
5. Mom - 2.880
6. The Unicorn - 2.825
7. Ellen's Game of Games - 2.485
8. Bull - 2.458
9. Don't - 2.447
10. Law & Order: SVU - 2.120
11. Law & Order: SVU - 1.877
12. MLB on Fox - 1.605

The only shows MLB beat out were a couple on The CW. Lol.

NBA games are filled with woke political shit now, it's way more than the anthem. Slogans on the court, talk during the game, every interview with this political talk rammed down your throat. These kids that can bounce a ball well seriously think they're gods that need to spread their message. Celebrity culture needs to die so hard.

NBA says photographer who posted offensive Kamala Harris meme is no longer in bubble

A photographer working in the NBA bubble at Disney World was let go by the league after he posted an offensive meme about Kamala Harris, the newly announced Democratic candidate for vice president.

Bill Baptist is a freelance photographer from Houston who has covered the Houston Rockets for a number of years and was in the bubble as an independent contractor. The meme he posted on Facebook saw a wider audience when it was shared by former Houston Comets superstar Sheryl Swoopes.

Photographer posts offensive meme about Harris

Baptist posted a meme that included Democratic presidential candidate Joe Biden’s official 2020 campaign logo. But instead of “Joe 2020” in the blue circle, it reads “Jo and the Ho.” He shared the photo on Facebook without comment.

Swoopes immediately called out Baptist on Tuesday hours after the vice presidential announcement was made.

“So this guy works for the NBA but covers the Houston Rockets. Has been around for a while. Even worked for the Houston Comets. It’s amazing how people will smile in your face but eventually their true colors will show.

“@NBA and Houston Rockets he needs to GO!!! So disrespectful Bill Baptiste (sic) shame.”

The Comets, the WNBA’s first dynasty with four championships in the first four years of the league, folded in 2008. Swoopes, a three-time MVP and Olympic gold medalist, is one of the league’s pioneers.

NBA removes photographer from bubble

The NBA said in a statement to KPRC 2 in Houston that Baptist was no longer in the bubble.

“The photographer is an independent contractor and his services are no longer being used in Orlando.”

Baptist shared a statement with KPRC 2 saying the post “does not reflect my personal views at all.”

“I deeply regret posting on my facebook page a phrase that I saw and copied from others as a sample of some people’s reactions to Biden’s selection of Senator Harris as his choice for VP. The phrase I posted does not reflect my personal views at all. I should not have been so insensitive to post the statements by others. I sincerely apologize to all of those who have rightfully been offended and I have taken the post down from my FB page. It was a horrible mistake on my part.”

TL;DR - Freelance photographer posted a "Joe and the Hoe" meme on Facebook and is now banned from covering the NBA.

Now, a CBS News poll says that 58 percent of Americans view it as an “acceptable” form of protest. For younger Americans, the number is far higher.

I wonder how absolutely slanted and cherry-picked that poll was, yet 42 percent of those asked still said "Nope, fuck those millionaire douchebags." :story:

No one is saying they can't protest, but a lot of people don't agree with their message, which is not the same thing as saying they can't protest. The only reason the reporter included that poll result was to control the narrative.

My brother, who's pretty into sports, says he doesn't really watch NBA lately not cause of woke shit (only a sperg like me even knows bout that shit where I'm at) but cause there's no crowd. He says not hearing a roaring crowd makes it feel dull and lifeless.

So I'm not really sure if it's the woke shit that's the reason why viewership is down, but I'm fairly sure a not insignificant part of the American fanbase isn't tuning in specifically cause of that.
