It's been a week. The justice system works ridiculously slow, especially now with wuflu fucking everything up.

I dunno I'd expect a confident corporation already to have filed something preliminary, even something dumb to make their PR campaign around. It's like they went to their lawyers and said "make this dumb hick shit go away" and the lawyers were like "well ackshually. . ." and they're now shitting themselves.

The average person looking at this isn't even thinking of First Amendment standards. They're thinking "there's a wall over there, and here's this gun. . .why are we waiting?" Even the average First Amendment fanatic is disgusted by what they're having to defend.

I'm sure something like this they would speed it up or Netflix would do something about it, so far after the case hit the media, nothing else has happened. also, it's Texas, most of them believe that the virus is fake, so it wouldn't slow them down.

Now I know this will earn me lots of rainbows to brighten my day, but is it possible they've actually done the unthinkable and decided to take this seriously, let their lawyers do their jobs and actually follow counsel's advice to shut their fucking mouths?

I know they're woke, and wokies like to at least pretend not to care about the bottom line, but maybe this time a survival instinct has overridden the wokeness urge...

Usually you'd see filings pretty fast in a case like this involving a big corporation. Even just to try and contest something about the initial filing to get it thrown out. They might be drafting some huge textbook of a filing to make sure the judge dismisses it, but if we don't see anything by next week we're probably in for a wild ride.

I heard he tried to argue against censorship and was claiming it was against freedom of speech to pull the film and denounce it? Holy actual shit. Any radical leftie Silicon Valley fuck or upper middle class Marxist universty-going manchild who dares try and use that argument? Do the fucking world a favor and kill yourself already, please? Pretty please with a cherry on top? You don't get to use that argument when you're the biggest proponent to censorship and anti freedom of speech, or should I say in your own words "hate speech" in the 21st century. You are the groups of people who will be first to harrass and threaten employers, friends, family members, and individuals who dare say shit you don't like and go out of your way to ruin their lives and soft-murder them by making sure it's impossible for them to procure funds for basic living necessities. Literally fucking kill yourselves.

Amos Yee getting busted this week really of highlights the difference between free speech and child abuse. He's known for telling anyone who'll listen he thinks paedophilia is A-OK and shouting it from the rooftops, on any platform he can find, for years, and it was all legal. Until he actually solicited a child and got dirty pics of the poor kid. That's the problem Cuties has, it's not just talking about paedophilia any more, they actually auditioned hundreds of children and made them twerk and do "sexy" dances (🤢) and then made the child actors do all this stuff on camera. There's a clear line, and they crossed it. If the movie had focused on a dirty old man character talking about paedophilia it'd have been different. Donnie Darko did that pretty well IMO with the Sparkle Motion dance scene, they didn't focus too much on the children, they focused on the paedo in the audience and on Donny burning down his house and exposing his kiddie porn dungeon. The child actors weren't having to do much dancing for that scene and it was largely the music choice and their makeup that sold the concept. Cuties didn't do that, it's all on the children and they really made the child actors do all that gross shit.

They literally put that in there because it's necessary for it to be constitutional. But the important thing to remember is this "artistic value" thing is a question of fact, to be determined by a trier of fact, and that may be a judge or jury. And they decide it by "contemporary community standards."

Guess how high an opinion of a Texas court is going to be of the "artistic value" of a piece of shit like this? By their "contemporary community standards."

If the case was in Austin or maybe San Antonio, you'd be right. Thankfully, that's not the case.

Tyler County, Texas, a small and very rural Texas county with slightly over 20,000 population. It is not the county which contains the city of Tyler, Texas.

Well, that's good at least.

I find it interesting that *society* or the media at least seems to view racism as worse than sex crimes.

That's why Dukes of Hazzard has been pulled but reruns of the Cosby Show still air.

In all fairness, The Cosby Show did have a lot of its reruns pulled for a while. It was only until after Cosby was convicted and sentenced that I started seeing it air again.

Blue Lagoon shows that the US can do it, too, but maybe all the people who could have knocked some sense into the filmmakers were so coked out they didn't care, it was 1980 afterall. At least they used a body double for the sex scene. Still, they used a body double for Molly Ringwald in The Breakfast Club for the up skirt shot and she says it creeps her out anyway, but that might be #metoo mental gymnastics.

Pretty Baby had a French director. Leon/The Professional had a French director, and if that film didn't sexualize Natalie Portman... It's really hard to think of any French films that don't sexualize children.

At least Blue Lagoon had the benefit of being based on an older novel and using an adult body double for certain scenes, plus it was the late 70's/early 80's when everyone was coked out of their gourds and sex-crazed.

Cuties is just fucked up and it's apparently one of the milder examples of fucked-up French pedo cinema according to this thread.

Come to think of it, it's rather telling that the two French cartoons to make it big in America in recent years are Totally Spies and Miraculous Ladybug, both infamous for their creepy covert fetish stuff to a memetic degree

All I can say is that Julius Caesar, the Duke of Wellington, and Klaus Barbie did nothing wrong when they went rampaging through France.

Maïmouna Doucouré , director of the movie, is not really french, yeah she was born and raised in France but she's a child of Senegalese immigrants and a Muslim. Senegal, as a 3rd world Muslim shithole has one of the highest rates of child marriages and female genital mutilation.

As per her Wikipedia page " she fights against sexualization of children".

Great fucking logic, rather than making a movie about her background and culture where girls are being raped and they are having their genitals mutilated, let's make a movie about bad western world which turns girls into sluts. And for the movie purposes let's turn them into 10 year old strippers.

So this movie is OFFICIALLY ISLAMIC CONTENT?
You have a screw loose if you think a movie whose entire point is to oppose Islamic values and tradition is in any way Islamic.

REMEMBER, THE STAR AND CRESCENT ARE BAPHOMET'S SYMBOLS.....
Baphomet was invented by the French as a depiction of the Prophet (PBUH) so... that's kinda the point. Although there is definitely a discussion around where the star and crescent actually originated from because the symbols of Islam are the Black Standard and the shahaddah while the star and crescent was a symbol that appeared during the Ottomans.
