I am an old, but -- back in the 80s/90s, when I was traveling in goth/rocker circles, you did occasionally have chubby or even fat chicks. There weren't nearly as many fat people in general back then, though. And, those fat chicks actually put in the work, wearing makeup, with really nice clothing, hair done to a t, etc, and some actually looked pretty fucking hot, cause they gave a shit about their appearance, even if they couldn't lose the pounds. You did have some trashfires here and there, and it was expected to have at least a couple dumpy loser fat chicks in half-assed outfits sitting outside the goth clubs chainsmoking because they either couldn't get in the club or were too pooped to dance, but even the dumpier or chubbier chicks would go to great lengths to look nice. Goth is a very forgiving look if you do it right, black clothes and stylized makeup do wonders (just look at Japanese chicks, they got that shit down to a fucking science). Here all subcultures seem to have been overshadowed by mass migration. You don't see many people trying to look different; people are instead trying to look normal.
Besides the blue hairs that is.
I think there were always fat goths as well.
Gen Z in general seem more sensible than Milenials. Less woke, more based, less social media obsessed, caring more about their appearance...I'm seeing some glimmers of hope though, seeing teens in my neighborhood actually wearing decent clothes, running, having their hair done right. God please let there be hope.

Speaking of which, whatever happened to the goth chick trend anyways? Given what currently is trending, i.e. the LGBTQZOMGWTFBBQ rainbow, and the alphabet soup of genders growing larger everyday, makes me miss the goth chick trend.
They're never going to be able to get this to fly with fans if death isnt a cute goth chick. If somehow Kirby Howell-Baptiste pulls it off they might get away with it. I've seen black goths, Hell I dated one a few years back so I know it can be done but the casting choice doesnt feel like they can Pull of death with kirby, she's got the cheer but she hasnt got the look or the subtle gravitas.
Their's a lot of weird casting choices here luciens casting is weird and I'm unsure why they made cain and abel india subcontinent rather than arabic which would be the obvious race swap. It's pretty obvious a lot of these casting decisions are deliberate but a comiteee and neil should have produced something more calculated not to alienate unless neils a fucking idiot. Even morpheus looks miscast.
Cain and Abel First appeared in a DC comic of Biblical stories, and they apparently are the same beings.I saw a goth chick out in town this morning. Goth-lite but still goth. Looked around 17. Don't see many now but they're out there. In general, I would say current generation is less interested in cliques than back in the Eighties. You can see a goth chick hanging out just as happily with some mainstream girls it seems to me now, and they'll think her way of dressing is just as valid a look as anything else. Kids are more accepting these days.
Frankly, if they were going to race-change anyone it should be Cain and Abel who presumably would be African. But then maybe they're supposed to be mythological rather than the literal Cain and Abel, I don't know, in which case maybe they're supposed to conform to popular, European Christianity depictions. I don't know.

I dated a black goth chick for a few years in the mid-90s, and believe me, she would have roasted this fucking thing alive -- she was the one who taught me just how insufferable and infantilizing liberal race pandering really was. They're never going to be able to get this to fly with fans if death isnt a cute goth chick. You say that as if it's not a foregone conclusionunless neils a fucking idiot.
They're the mythological Cain and Abel. They apparently had some independent existence before they became dreams, but they "didn't look remotely human back then." The versions inhabiting the Dreaming are the hosts from House of Mystery and House of Secrets. So they are intended to be the literal Cain and Abel. Meaning the two characters that actually should be African they've made not. Or in the DC universe did African people have White ancestors? Well, Indian based on rumoured casting, I guess. Oh, that latter one is going to be fun. Someone who isn't banned from Twitter should ask it.

If you wanted to use real world mythology, Cain and Abel is a Semitic myth--maybe inspired by Sumerian contest literature--and Eden was in Mesopotamia, so they'd be some variety of Middle Eastern.
