“Fate: The Winx Saga,” a live-action young adult adaptation of the 2000’s OG magical girl group “Winx Club” about fairies in training, has begun filming in Ireland!
The series features Brian Young (showrunner of “The Vampire Diaries” and “Kyle XY”) as showrunner and Judy Counihan and Kris Thykier from Archery Pictures (producers of “Rivier” and “The State”) as executive producers. Iginio Straffi, CEO of Rainbow Group (producers of “Winx Club,” “44 Cats,” and “Gladiator Of Rome”) also acts as executive producer.
Inspired by the Italian cartoon format, the six-episode series follows the coming-of-age journey of five unlikely friends attending Alfea, a magical boarding school in the Otherworld. They must learn to master their magical powers while navigating love, rivalries, and the monsters that threaten their very existence.
“Fate: The Winx Saga” will have six 60-minute episodes directed by Lisa James Larsson, casting by Kate Ringsell, and produced by Jon Finn.

I never enjoyed this as a kid (im stuck with one of those penis fuckin' things), but both my female twin sister and cousins would constantly watch it. According to her, she can't imagine it being any better than the Lion King remake due to the same limitations of live action vs animation.

Oh wait, muh diversity, that's why. Netflix is creaming itself over the cast alone, and for sure Bloom isn't going to be a redhead in this day and age, and Tecna is probably going to be a lesbo and/or will have some lines about GooberGate.

EDIT: Oh, they actually have a picture of the cast. Surprised there's a redhead after all, but of course the cast looks like that. Still ew. (I haven't seen the series past season two, I don't know who "Terra" is.)

I always preferred the WITCH comic, but Winx Club is cute and the first few seasons are fun to watch.

Yeah, I'm not gonna watch this. Netflix originals are overwhelmingly crap, especially when they're "remakes." I'm surprised that Bloom is still a redhead. Why no Flora and Tecna, though? Is a combo of them what "Terra" is going to be? Why cast Musa white? Who thought this was a good idea? A live action Winx could be cheesy fun like the live action Sailor Moon was, but I'm not sensing that happening here. Taking away two of the main characters is a stupid idea that never works. A surefire way to alienate your potential audience.

(Also, Flora is my favorite Winx so taking her out kills what excitement I could've had for this.)

I know very little about Winx Club, but I do know this one thing: if they want to stay true to the original show, these actresses are going to get it pulled down within a few weeks of it going up. They look way too young for the sort of midriff and thighs that most of the outfits in the cartoon demand. I'm looking through some things from the show now and I swear to God, this:

might be closer to the correct casting choice than these baby-faced, teenie 20s and 21s. Hell, the blond's normal outfit and proportions feel more Vengaboys than they do Nickelodeon.
