I was just lucky to get a Xbox Series S from Wal-fart because my super old Xbox one is dead. I won't be getting it until Jan 12th.

I'm just going to stick to my PC for the time being. Most of the console exclusives I cared about are finding their way on steam, anyway. The only thing Sony has that I would want is the Demon Souls remake, but I am not getting a console just for that and I am most certainly not paying 70 bucks for it.

I've mentioned before on this site, but I have a "five game rule" before buying a new console.

There must be at least 5 titles on the system that I would personally consider must-have. Not only would I want to buy these titles, but also want to play them from start to finish. The games must be already released and already reviewed by normal people(rather than professionals) favorably. The released part is to prevent scenarios like what happened to people buying the Xbox One just for Scalebound but then the game gets cancelled.

Microsoft games blow and I can get on PC anyways. Sony "games" are all overly cinematic garbage not worth the price of entry.

On top of that, AAA in general is in the shits. CDPR prove their incompetency with Cyberpunk, Activision proved their incompetency with Black Ops Cold War. EA hasn't produced anything worthwhile to me in over a decade and I don't expect that to change. Rockstar can't release more than 1 game every decade now and lost all the people who were the heart and soul of the company.

Am I forgetting anybody? I'm sure I am but they probably suck ass too.

Only decent games are indy games, and fuck me if I'm buying a new console for indy games.

Won't lie, I've been less inclined to get consoles over the years since I joined the master race with more and more console games also hitting the PC as well(aside from Nintendo which keeps doing its own thing). But if I had to choose between Sony or Microsoft, I'd most likely get a PS5 since I've always liked their exclusives over Microsoft's.

There are no games on the Xbox Series X that can't just be played on an Xbox One. The big PS5 exclusive seems to be a remake of a PS3 game. I'd rather just get a newer PC and maybe a PS5 in a couple of years when it has a price cut and comes with a game.

Or hell, maybe just a good deal on a PS4 Pro from someone upgrading to a PS5. This generation's probably going to have an extra-long transition time thanks to backwards compatibility and the entire planet's economy crashing super hard.
