[CENSORED] New Jumanji Remake - First... they came for The Ghostbusters

I can't wait for this to flop harder than Ghostbusters and the critics to whine "But... but mah pee-oh-seas!"

Even doing my damnedest to shut out the fact that they were shoehorning in women for political correctness, the Ghostbusters trailers were cringeworthy and extremely unfunny to watch. And when you consider that Leslie Jones' only jokes in them were racially-driven, it just felt that the progressive image they were trying to make was going completely backwards and that the directors and writers were shooting themselves in the foot.

They said that we shouldn't judge Ghostbusters by its trailer and that we should give it a chance, but if you're trying to make an adventurous story with comedic elements, if it's not interesting or funny to watch then why the hell am I gonna pay 30$ to watch the piece of shit?

Eh... gonna try and stay positive, but there's no way it'll come close to the original.

I was about to post that I wish they made a movie from Zathura (that other book by the writer of Jumanji), then I learned they did 11 years ago, so it should be up for a remake in the mid-2020s.

Yeah, but I recall Zathura didn't so hot in the box office. I don't even think it made its budget back in theaters. Maybe it was the incestual implications, I dunno.

They only make remakes of shit that was popular so that they can sponge on said popularity. It's easier to get asses in theater seats with franchises with pre-established viewers.

Original movie was never a particularly remarkable flick in any way, therefore a remake isn't necessarily a bad thing, and I also don't understand the outrage angle from the anti-PC edgelords. As far as I can tell, much of the nostalgia for the Jumanji IP stems from the objectively superior animated series.

It's unlikely that I'll bother washing the remake, considering how I was unaware that it even existed prior to posting on this thread.

For all we know, the movie could flop hard like with other remakes or it could actually do well enough. That said though, one may as well prepare for the edgelords that will either try too hard to rip the movie and those that try too hard to defend it.

There was an animated series? That said, nostalgia can be to blame since for all we know, maybe the movie isn't as good.

Wait a minute, this sounds fucking familiar.

If this is anything like the last time, no matter how anyone actually feels about it, odds are better than break even that there's going to be someone trying to market it using outrage culture, same as Ghostbusters. I'm not surprised that we've already had a few dumbasses argue the same talking points, and "you don't like X because women/POCs/whatever" is becoming the new go-to defense for fucking anything.

Calling it now, watch some retard post a fucking "IF YOU DON'T SUPPORT JUMANJI YOU ARE RACIST" thing in the next few weeks, if it's not already up, while the rest of the internet gives nary a shit.

I forgot Jumanji ever existed in the first place.

The film is honestly not that good from what I recall - the only really good part is when the hunter guy just hands a pile of gold to the gun shop owner and gets a high-tech sniper rifle off the books.

Zathura, both the original sequel to the book and spiritual sequel to the film, is miles better in every imaginable way. Namely because there's less than ten total characters and none of them are randomly dumb as shit to justify the plot.
