I'm going to say John Squire's bank account was screaming. Ian Brown has a successful solo career and is one of the faces of Adidas in Europe, Mani had Primal Scream, Reni was pretty sensible and just stayed low, whereas Squire had The Seahorses, which imploded spectacularly (and sadly), a mediocre solo career, then he became an artist.
I have to admit that I reckon it's pretty mediocre. I'm not convinced that it's really going to go anywhere after the initial "holy shit, they're back" hype wears off.
