Nicholas Robert Rekieta / Rekieta Law / @NickRekieta - Hard Drinking Minnesotan Lawyer on YouTube

srsly, wtf is dis shit?

Nick is pushing the limits on what an activate courtroom-oriented lawyer should be doing/saying on YouTube. His YouTube activities don't actually need to be unethical in a disciplinary sense for it to be a bad idea for his law career. It was really a matter of time until something from his YouTube career manifested itself in the legal realm.

I would never hire a lawyer with a YouTube channel, especially Nick.
Depends on the case. Just look how many eyes he put on #KickVic. To anyone who legitimately thinks that's a bad thing: HELLO P.U.L.L. USER, please enjoy your visit!

You could also argue the opposite. Hes very respectful toward anonymity, and has presented a lot of legal know-how. Still, I could see how hos youtube activity could be off-putting toward potential clients

It seems like alot of people who hire him don't seem to really use the internet much so I doubt they care about his antics on here. People think the internet is huge but you would be surprised how many people don't use it, my siblings seem to keep their social media to a absolute minimum and they are 17-25 (the most I've seen from them is one of them watches PewDiePie but that's it really)
He also usually prefers writing wills anyways so it's not like anyone's going to care that much about what the lawyer writing his will says online.

You're absolutely right, the only thing is that I don't think Nick is interested in being a lawyer in the traditional sense anymore. He'd rather be an internet pundit with a legal degree and skills who does occasional legal work on the side. It's certainly lucrative - more lucrative than being a small-town lawyer? Who knows.

I get where you are coming from, i can respect that opinion and he may have to tone it down as his channel grows, BUT.

Here's why i would hire Nick: He has shown an absolute tenacity to dig into cases and their background case law in jurisdictions that he can't practice in, to give a great overview of the issues. Other lawyers from those jurisdictions have praised and shown surprise at his work and understanding of the local law. He can be considered cheap, while readily admitting his faults and will turn down those who he feels are outside his expertise. He is slowly building a network of good lawyers all over the US that he can and will recommend. He can decipher and explain law including citations off the top of his head while drunk and convert that to Layman's terms. While drunk he shows the ability to obliterate other lawyers arguments (based on law) and run a successful PR front in which he can deride others as incompetent jokes. If you look into his YouTube history and predictions, he appears to have premonition as most things appear to go as he predicts.

For my closing argument I'll present the following; LanDUI isn't a YouTube lawyer, Rekieta is a YouTube lawyer. Who do you choose to defend you?

I'd hire Nick for anything local to him, or at least get a reference from him, and I'd definitely hire Leonard French for anything in his wheelhouse.

He's going to turn some people away, but he's also going to attract others. Its like all those bad lawyer commercials you see on youtube. You might think those lawyers have no credibility, but I guarantee you there's some schlub watching The Price Is Right thinking to himself, "I should hire these guys, they look smart."

I never heard of this guy before, or the porn studio on the other side, but I'm really stunned by the people saying that he must just give up the brand he's been building for half a decade just because some porn company is coming out with a new product of the same name. At this point in the product's development, it really should be very little sweat off the studio's back to just change the name of their product just enough to avoid confusion.

It's typical for current year. Everything is polarizing to extremes and the opposition must be obliterated. Look at any time recently a cover song is released, the fans of the covering band declare it the best ever and will attempt to BTFO anyone who disagrees. Some go so far as to suggest that the original artists should pay the covering band for exposure a la social media influencers.

He started tonight's scheduled stream early, presumably to finish off the superberries from his earlier stream before getting back on the Meyer v Waid stuff.

I like the well produced, but still awful lawyer commercials.

Tim Pool stream is tonight at 8PM Central

I know little about TIm Pool, but I've been following Subverse somewhat for about a month. They supposedly(keyword there)already trademarked Subverse, I don't know, still looking into it, and from what I've seen, they've been pretty responsive to questions regarding the game.

Now, just to stress this again, I've never heard of Tim Pool. I know nothing about him. So I decided to learn. I don't know all the details about this situation, but in my opinion Tim Pool is SEVERELY over-exaggerating everything, what with lines like "I'm not going to sacrifice four years of work with no days off". This is especially the case if you actually go to his website, http://subverse.net/, and notice that the last article was 20 hours ago, followed by one nine months ago, followed by three one year ago, one two years ago, two three years ago, and then one four years ago.

He's hardly produced content on his official website. In fact, searching "Tim Pool Subverse Youtube" gets this in the top results:

726518

He doesn't appear to have anything resembling an official "Subverse News" YouTube channel. So I checked out just "Tim Pool" on youtube, you can see at the bottom.

726520

This guy looks more or less like someone who banks on what I call "Outrage Culture", making videos almost exclusively covering this kind of content as you can see here. It's directions like this that make me take sites like OneAngryGamer with a hefty pinch of salt.

Meanwhile, going by a Studio FOW Q&A, they've claimed that this game is a serious project they're putting work into and it will keep their in-house animators' skills up, after which they plan to go back to making their animations. I've seen some of them, they're pretty well done.

This just looks to me like Tim Pool is getting salty that a potential brand name he didn't capitalize on is now gaining more traction under another person or group, and so he contacted them to change the name. These people probably literally never HEARD of him, so told him to contact their lawyers, not to be dicks, but because they weren't going to have some random internet dude contacting them and making them change their product name.

I'm still listening to the Rekieta stream, but this is what I've gathered so far. Tim's using this to generate publicity for himself.

Edit: One last thing. Again, I've yet to actually confirm this, but apparently one of Tim's reasons for not liking this is "Porn is toxic and controversial" going by a quote on OAG. Then what the hell is that above image? I don't like selective hypocrites.
