Nick Rekieta's Weeb Wars videos & livestreams - MULTIPLE SLURS

A someone who isn't a weeb and didn't closely follow the #kickvic shit I assumed Vic had been on Nick's show at some point during this. I'm shocked that after milking him for all this content and basically using him as a springboard to start his YouTube career he never had him on to give his side of the story.

Unless he didn't want to discuss pending litigation, of course.
It's not too surprising that Vic would have wanted to distance himself from Nick a little bit, because he doesn't really agree with Nick's tactics. I think that Vic probably doesn't approve of everything (or a lot) of what Nick says on his show, and there is an insane Twitter mob that is going to try to spin a guest appearance as endorsement of literally everything that Nick's ever said, and try to use that as further justification to end him.

The reverse is also kinda true. Nick's said a few times that he thinks Vic should've gone harder on the liars instead of apologizing and trying to take the higher road and ask for peace. Vic's concerned about coming across as a bully and a ringleader of his fans "harassing" (having, and stating, negative opinions about) particular other VAs (even if they're horrible people and an asshole like Nick would say that they deserved it), so his message has always been "don't mess with them, just be kind to everyone."

I'm stoked for the interview though. On top of the endless amounts of salt that it'll undoubtedly yield, Vic's an extremely personable character and I think he'll be a great guest.

Also when is the appeals court going to be done looking over Chupp's TCPA ruling?
Any week now. Welcome to Appeal Hell.

He actually tried to have Vic come on stream in February of 2019 (it was one of the first times Nick contacted Vic).
As for "start his YouTube career," that was the LOLsuit (Ouzounian vs. Herrera et al).
Unless he didn't want to discuss pending litigation, of course.
Bingo!

>Vic comes on the show for the first time
>nick tries to act all buddy buddy with him
>Vic stops him, calls him a jerk, and tells he’s done as much damage to his life as anyone else has by dragging this out and making it public
>tells nick he’s not pursuing the case any more and that he doesn’t want to hear from him ever again
>leaves nick sitting there stunned on stream

I can dream can’t I?
The saddest part is that a bunch of fatfucks on Twitter literally think this about to happen.

I hope Vic isn't going to drop the appeal or announce a settlement like the Waid v. Meyer case.

God damn it's a shitshow that the appeal has taken so long. I'm still amazed that Beard managed to fuck up so badly it got thrown out.
It's not just Ty. It's Chupp, too.
The 2nd Court of Appeals just overturned a TCPA ruling by Chupp, where Chupp ruled that a couple's Yelp review of an auto shop was defamation.
The 2nd Court of Appeals reversed that ruling and sent the case back to Chupp for fees.

It will mostly be corn ball ish content. Vic will say something along the lines of - I just dont like mean people and the chat will shut down with Fire emojis.

Chubb being reversed, or any judge being reversed isnt an uncommon thing - it may not happen the majority of times but its not like a rare thing that only Chupp gets hit with.

Anyway I really think that reasonably at best for Vic (maybe worst if he still loses) it gets remanded back for Chupp to redo everything for something procedural. Then we wait two more years, Chupp or another judge does it correctly and dismisses via TCPA. Vic owes even more money. Ron is still the poster boy for weeb wars insults on KF.

Vic probably could sue for some sort of malpractice - but I doubt his heart is in it. He seems focused on anything but the past. He has a measure of being aloof that wouldnt surprise me if he thought he was the one being brought to trial. I still remember the look on his face during deposition when he was asked if he knew he was suing for a million..

Regardless of your thoughts on Nick - there was only one real winner of this whole thing, and it was him.

tl;dr of tl;dr: #MeTooed anime voice actor interviewed by lawtuber who helped initiate and has since followed closely the details of a lawsuit against the actor's accusers.

Obligatory post-feature tl;dr for the newbies who will now be infesting this thread;

Vic Mignogna (mign-YON-na) is an actor/voice actor who is most widely known for his work in the English dubs of many popular anime shows.

Nick Rekieta is a lawyer turned YouTube commentator (though he maintains his law practice to some extent) who became quite popular by doing streams and videos on some fandom-related cases; first the "lolsuit" between Maddox and Dick Masterson, then the "ComicsGate" suit when amateur comics writer Richard Meyer (AKA YouTuber "Comics & Diversity/Comics Matter/Ya Boi Zack") sued professional comics writer Mark Waid for tortious interference after he basically slandered Meyer with racism accusations and got a publishing deal for one of his books cancelled.

"Weeb Wars" kicked off in early 2019 when some anime industry pros, most notably Mignogna, were #MeTooed via Twitter. Very few of the allegations were anything close to proven, but of course that doesn't matter; anime cons began to drop Mignogna from their schedules and anime and video game productions fired him as an actor, even after he did the customary apology. After his fans and viewers saw similarities with the Meyer v Waid case (largely Twitter-powered libel with the attempt to ruin someone's career), Nick started following the case and even floated the idea of starting a crowdfunding campaign to raise funds for a lawsuit, as happened with the Meyer case.

At some point, Rekieta and Mignogna had a telephone conversation in which Rekieta referred Vic to a family friend of his, Texas lawyer Ty Beard. Though Mignogna already had other counsel at that point, he was not satisfied with their results, so he hired Beard. They filed a suit against four defendants for their libel. The defendants filed a Texas Civil Participation Act (TCPA) motion, which basically argues that the lawsuit was an attempt to squash their first-amendment right of free speech rather than address any real wrongdoing, and the judge in the case accepted that motion and dropped the case. (Opinion on the Farms is split between retards who believe that Beard is incompetent and bungled the case, and retards who believe that the judge was wrong to drop the case despite clear evidence of defamation resulting in financial damage. Some retards believe both to be true.) Beard almost immediately filed an appeal, and that's where the case is now - we have been waiting several months to hear from the higher court if the appeal will go through and the case will be sent back to the lower court. The coof has slowed down things considerably.

During this process, Nick and Vic have apparently stayed in casual contact and even met in person at an anime con that Vic had been re-invited to. Nick has not yet featured Vic on his show, however (despite featuring Beard many times, both about the Vic case and other things). Thus, despite the fantasies of people in this thread, I highly doubt Mignogna is going to use this as an opportunity to rip Nick a new one.

The case is rather important in that it's perhaps the most high-profile case so far of someone not just rolling over and letting their career die after getting #MeTooed, but instead forcing his accusers to put up or shut up. During early depositions, Mignogna had to admit some not-so-wholesome things, such as soliciting a prostitute and attempting but failing to initiate a threesome with twins, but so far none of the specific accusations of almost-rape by the defendants has been proven. So even if you hate everyone involved, it's one you should pay attention to if you think there should be consequences for making false accusations of rape and sexual harassment.

Nick has found the ultimate weeaboo grift: Get all of Vic's fat, lonely fangirls' money by having their hero on his show directly. They'll throw in more questions than could be ask in a week in the vain hope that maybe Vic-senpai will notice them. He might even have to bump up the fee to $30 (just to prevent too many questions, of course). Huge untapped market, as I'm sure the ones that did give any money to Vic did it through the GFM rather than paying Nick a dime. Looking forward to the 45 minute interview where Vic won't really say anything interesting besides "I didn't do anything wrong, this was a difficult time, thanks for being there for me Nick, I'm not gay," interspersed with and followed by 5 hours of superchat reads.
