Nintendo has named Tatsumi Kimishima as it's new president and successor to Satoru Iwata, who passed away earlier this year.

Kimishima has extensive leadership experience at Nintendo, where his previous roles have included serving as chief financial officer of the Pokemon Company and director of Nintendo of America. He was also the company's managing director and head of human resources for a period.

Before joining Nintendo, Kimishima worked at Sanwa Bank, becoming general manager of one of its branches.

Kimishima's becomes president of Nintendo effective September 16.

Interesting.

How does that compare with the people before him? He seems like an outsider-y business type.
He's worked for the company for 15 years now. And has headed several branches of Nintendo's buisiness like Nintendo of America and the Pokemon company.

He also has an employment history in finances. Since he worked in corporate for a bank for 27 years. This is why I'm guessing he was appointed as the head of Nintendo compared to someone like Miyamoto because of his business and financial background. Miyamoto has been with the company since the 70s but he seems much more interested in developing games than running a company.
