Yeah, so the Nintendo switch has been hacked, so if you ever thought you might like to play any of its exclusives and don't want to screw about with emulators, you should buy one asap. Nintendo have already rolled out a hardware revision that is beginning to hit stores, so make sure you check if it's hackable before you buy it, otherwise the rest of the thread will be useless to you.

Anyway, it was originally hacked by the xecutor team, who discovered that fucking with the connectors for the paddles allowed them to insert their custom firmware SXOS onto the console.

You can accomplish the same effect at home with a paperclip however, and now pretty much every feature of SXOS has been replicated in home-brew. You can load emulators (well I've only tried a nes one so far, so emulator) you can load backups and you can even download dlc for those backups.

It's possible if you steal games directly from their server, but otherwise no not really. And I say this as someone who owns every single other Nintendo console and have hacked all of them (well, GameCube and on). It's legal to own backup copies of games you own, so they can't do shit.

Yeah, but as far as I am aware, the only peop who got hit are people who used freeshop or the like to download games directly from Nintendo. It's definitely legal to own backups of your games in Australia and the EU, so unless they can prove you are pirating (like if you download straight from Nintendo) they would be opening themselves up to massive lawsuit if they banned people.

The banwave wasn’t nearly as big as media made it out to be, mostly only the dumbasses who played some illegal copy of an AA title online and then spawned in 999x masterballs or something. (Or Chinese hackers, but those don’t count because they are not people.)

A bunch of people got wrongly banned which is why the numbers is so big, this lead to a shit ton of people being unbanned including legit hackers who claimed their disabled aut.ist brother broke into their account or something.

I was thinking about buying a Switch for a minute, this may well be what clinches the deal, I don't play online anyways (single player/local multiplayer all the way here), so I don't care if I get banned anyways.

I think the only multiplayer game worth playing online on the switch is splatoon, so there's not much reason to go online at all. I'm thinking about getting a switch, but there's more games on PS4 that interest me at the moment. My PC playlist is huge and free time short, though, so I can't really justify buying a console I'll rarely play.

I mean, I bought a 3DS (got in a fight with the GameStop manager because he started interrogating me about not buying any games and accused me of going to hack it...which was true, so that was an ordeal) and installed all the hot games for it but it sits on my nightstand. Only time I touch it is to wipe the dust off.

Kinda bored with console stuff. If the switch had other stuff like Octopath or exclusives worth a damn I would be more interested and willing to put aside the time to hack it.

You mean Xenoblade? The story is too shit. If I'm playing an RPG of some sort, I have to at least be somewhat interested in the story.
