Let's talk about the amazing Team Ninja game that really isn't Dark Souls but is hard to not draw parallels to the SoulsBorne franchise.

What part are you at? What's been your biggest rage moment up to this point?

For me it was that succubus cunt Hino-enma.

Fuck you if you're a faggot cheesing your way through the bosses with Sloth.

The game is a weird hybrid of the Tomonobu Itagaki Ninja Gaiden series and Dark Souls, it falls somewhere in the middle. There are even times where I get feelings of Monster Hunter in it. It's hard to not draw parallels but it is truly a unique experience and a great new IP. If you have a PS4 it's worth picking up if you want a challenging and rewarding experience.

I like it a lot. Then again I was a huge fan of Dark Souls, but the tone of Nioh is a lot different. DS was more focused on your own isolation in a world gone mad. Nioh you actually have some support structures to help you, and not everyone you meet is insane or a demon. You actually do side quests to help people out and such.
I haven't got that far into the main story but from what I've seen so far it's much more focused, with clear goals, whereas the Dark Souls franchise just chucked you into the deep end and said "Swim".

Absolutely loving it. It's a fantastic example of taking inspiration from an existing game and completely doing your own thing with it, it really does stand apart from the Souls franchise brilliantly.

I've just beaten the Frog-ninja asshole, tough fight.
Umi-Bozu has given the most grief because of the shit level design in that arena. Umi-Bozu himself is fairly easy and straight forward, however I fell to my death countless times while targeting him and simply attacking from a safe distance only to fall into the water directly in front of him from a super small crack in the wood. That's been my biggest rage moment so far and it was such bullshit. Kind of like how you can fall straight off some ledges into water on the same mission without any wobble or chance to correct yourself, sometimes you can, sometimes you can't.

I sometimes forget I'm playing a Team Ninja game then moments like this make me realize it's their same bullshit through and through.

I fell off a couple of times myself, but I always felt it was more down to my carelessness. There's a section to the right of the door where you come in that kept catching me out. Part of my problem is that I get impatient due to the high health pool the bosses have.

I guess what I'm saying is some ledges give you a warning like you stagger for a moment and can rollback from, but there are ones where that doesn't happen at all and there's no rhyme or reason as to why drop spot A has it and B doesn't. Even though the edges of the wood look the exact same, I don't understand why the rules change without warning or any real reason.

I remember going into Umi-Bozu remembering that there were three torches I was supposed to light to make him weaker and I only lit one. I beat him on my first try, thanks to having stockpiled Fire Talismans and my trusty guardian spirit Kato.

I really do love the combat in this game though. It just clicks and it's on par with Bloodborne for me, arguably a bit more because the different stances for each weapon helps diversify them. The gore is really cool and visceral, it's always satisfying to kill a guy and you just lop his head off, and I really treasure the fact that they give you options for switching between a visuals intensive mode that's at 30 FPS or a mode with consistent 60 FPS.

I love the look and style of Nioh, but I don't have enough shekels right now to buy a PS4 and the game. Donate some shekels to the cause please goys.

Same. Although I already have a PS4. I just don't want to be throwing money around at the moment.

I've heard that there's a one-eyed cat with an eye-patch in this game, is this true?

Especially the dodge. My ki/stamina will be all the way up and I'll be pressing x to dodge and nothing will happen at all.
I was having this problem until I realize your stance affects your dodge and if you're in mid or high stance you're going to dodge slower than low stance.

It's got a tsuba for an eye-patch? Is it a ninja?:optimistic:

Signs point to yes; Nekomata was possessing the cat that Hanzo, the ninja, kept in his shirt, and he himself is referred to as 'Master' by Hanzo himself.

Nioh is better than Dark Souls. Better than DS2/3 anyway.

Yup. A good Team Ninja game. Who would have thought it possible?
