What the fuck is wrong with my shit?
-Do I need a new processor?

I assume it's processor issues.
I'm running on a refurbished Dell OptiPlex 7010 that I got for $75. I'm running Linux Mint 20.1 Ulyssa (64 bit). The only modification I've made is a RAM upgrade (from 4GB to 16GB).
This bitch has been cranky ever since I upgraded from 32-bit (I initially installed 32-bit based on outdated wisdom of "if you don't know what you want, you want 32" but now some things don't even work in 32 so...). Every time I restart this piece of shit, it requires I jog the power supply before pressing the power button or I just get a flashing orange light on said button. I get a warning about previous thermal failure when it does turn on and on-board diagnostics does nothing for me. I decided I'd place a mostly empty water bottle on the side of my machine and it looks quite close to forming rain clouds. The system seems to think the CPU temp is 27.8 degrees C regardless of how hard I'm pushing it or even if the fan is screaming. That number's a constant.
What are you using to get CPU temps?

So I've been having issues with my graphics card for the past week with it displaying nothing but sa black screen after I tried doing a driver update. I have yet to find an effective fix for it, be it uninstalling the drivers, doing a factory reset or simply just taking the card out and plugging it back in. Has anyone else had this issue and found a fix short of just getting a new one? I've brought it up with the manufacturer, but I've been stuck playing email tag with their support team. I've even taken it to the guy I got the card from, but even he's stumped and gave me a loaner until I can get it fixed.

As a followup question, I've also been experiencing sound issues, mainly screeching and static, whenever I plug my speakers into my desktop, I assume it's a grounding issue as the drivers are up to date, and the sound does work when I plug in some headphones into my mic (I got a new set of speakers that similarly work, and I'm using that as a temporary fix), but how do I fix a grounding issue when it comes to a desktop computer causing the issue?

GPU and sound problems at the same time? Are you sure it's not the mobo?
My old laptop used to mix static to external speaker output when the power brick started to get a bit "tired". Could be a similar power delivery issue.

I wouldn't think so, I only got my power brick just a year and a half ago. I would say it's the motherboard, but as I already mentioned, I'm using a loaner GPU card and otherwise I can get visual when plugging directly into the computer. It could be the reason my sound is going out though. Problem is, I'm too much of a poorfag to actually replace the motherboard if that is the case.

Does the loaner GPU work properly?

That's strange. I haven't heard about a driver update bricking hardware until now.
Yeah, it was an AMD update, I was using the Atnerprise driver on my card, noticed it had an update and downloaded it. The screen went black during the install and never returned. Been trying to get the card's manufacturer to help me out on that, as I already mentioned, but it's been an outright hassle to do so. Hence the loner card (a Nvidia).

Which is better, wifi built into the motherboard or a network card? The motherboard I am looking at getting has WiFi 6 802.11ax 2T2R whatever that means lol. but I have This network card from asus which was pretty good on my last computer.

Depends on what you mean by better. The motherboard has newer standards, but for use in practice you should just test both.

Wrong question. Right question:
Hello, me! Can I tolerate the potential downtime if my network interface fails with no redundancy?
If yes, @Vecr 's answer. If no, @Vecr 's answer but the other part. In practice, wifi is garbage and do what @Rusty Crab said.

I dont know if this is the place to ask this, but Im looking for an alternative way to connect with people that is very reminiscent of the old AOL/yahoo chat.

Failing that I need a healthy alternative to twitter. The more obscure and cool the better.

If its english speaking, European and easily accessible, that would be neat.

Are you looking to find new people to talk to or a way to talk to people you already know? If it's the latter, I recommend setting up an XMPP server. I have one with just my wife and a few close friends running on a Raspberry Pi and it works great.

It's not for me, its for somebody else that doesn't use the farms.

They like interacting with random people who are not batshit like on twitter. They need something healthy and not built to be addictive, but also relatively fast paced.

I know safe public bastions other then here are limited, but if there is anything remotely good id like to hear it.

Some other federated instance? Here's one list, I'm sure there are others.

He can try to make friends on BBS if he's felling really adventurous.

Very interesting, Thank you. Can you think of anything good for a public phone text/voice chat room experience?

Is the rep for BBS that bad?

No. I only like anonymously shit posting. Maybe Discord?

What's BBS?
BBS is a system people used to use in the 80s, pre internet. It used to operate using phone modems, but now most of them function over telnet. There are a few left around with between 50-100 users, overwhelming male and over 35. People mostly use them to play door games, a basic sort of text mmo.

You can get started using Syncterm as a client. If you pick a BBS listed here you can play door games with people from other BBSes, and there will be at least 50-60 people in the more popular door games.
