Hate speech is a pretty contentious topic in the US because it's legal. But I'm curious about people who come from other parts of the world where it's settled that you can't use hate speech or you go to jail. What do you guys think about hate speech, and do you agree or disagree that your government should regulate and control it? Why or why not?

I don't agree that my government should control speech, but I do believe there should be controls on speech, the only thing that matters is whether those laws are on the right side or not. Pretending to be impartial and just letting anyone say anything creates a power vacuum that will be filled by people who care more about their speech than you do. Words have consequences, it's insane to suggest otherwise.

Any censorship laws are open to abuse, especially if the wrong people get into power. I feel like speech should be free. But we need some separate laws against inciting violence, that can be discretionally applied as needed.

Hate speech laws are an orwellian mind control nightmare. Its the infantilisation of the masses, telling them they don't know how to make their own judgement on published content. Hate speech is tyranny. Nobody should be able to decide what can and can't be said, what is or isn't hate. People are treated like idiots, as if most people don't know that there is a difference between joking about trannies online and calling a trans person a tranny to their face, adults understand how to interact with other people. For hate speech to exist in society you need thought police, and when you have thought police then you have tyranny, communism, fascism, Islam, Israel, and all the other book burning levels of societal control, and I am sick of this fuck, I just want to come home from work, pull the curtains, get a beer, and play some video games, but no, my work place is full of brainwashing, my games are shit and full of LGBT wank, my beer probably has aids, my operating system is updated by diversity hires, my neighbors are white women with rapeugee partners, and 99% of the internet and the people I talk to on the internet are communists that call me a NAZI and want me dead.
