It seems clear enough from Phil's recent post that Australantina, some neighboring nonexistence Canada landmasses, and Beothukia, would have block a lot of trade. The only quick access to the states would be through a narrow channel below Nova Scotia.

This would effectively remove most of American involvement in the Atlantic slave trade, except for when Britain sold about half a million Irish as slaves, for a really cheap price. It's likely Canada would be a bigger buyer than the lower colonies. As I don't recall any resources in Australatian that would even benefit much from a expensive labor force to profit off of. Australatina would not be as affected by later British ideals of Abolition, but will like ban the Atlantic slave trade as it has no economic interests in it. Slavery in South America is bigger, but only slightly because it is already huge.

It's unclear how the British ever planned on keeping the American colonies under their thumb. American Revolution is quiet. The is no civil war as the South industrialized. Americans may still drink tea.

It seems that Precolumbiam natives would had more diseases and immunities that would affect colonization due to increased land mass allowing more evolution to happen. There still would be a microbial holocast, but native American presence is stronger.

If so, then damn. I can probably put this on Phil having no sense of scale, but he has pretty megalomaniac tendencies with his fantasy. Chris at least confined his domain to a single city (which came off more as a rogue city-state, but still made more sense that Autismlandia anyway).

When I first saw Australatina, I thought it was supposed to be the size of a US state like Mississippi. Then I thought it was supposed to be the size of Libya or Iran. Now it's supposed to be almost as big as half of the United States.

Columbus would have hit Autistan long before Dominica, so pretty much the entire history of the world past 1700 or so would be completely different if LandPhil were real.

Columbus's journey was very far south by the time he reached the Americas. Other than that specific detail, there's no doubt history would be different.

In this timeline, It's quite likely the what would become the States would extend into Mexico. In fact, slavery politics forced the United States not to keep Mexico after we kicked Mexico's butt. Canada wouldn't have done as well against the Stats without the British to fight for them.

This requires American culture to exist. It's very well know how it developed. You basically start with a British person and take tea out of their system and replace it with coffee. The proximity to South America means this is likely to happen at some point.
