It's almost like getting a bigger studio space when you're a lower-tier YouTuber who barely used the first space to begin with wasn't a sound financial decision.

By the by, is he even able to break a million views anymore?
None of his recent NC videos have cracked a million. I glanced at his video list and the highest viewed was probably 798k.

What's sad is that his other videos, like the Tamara videos and the reaction videos, barely break over 100,000 views. The highest one that I've seen is the Sonic trailer reaction (currently at 324k views), and I guarantee you it's only because it was because everyone else was talking about it. People have always only cared for NC, so it shouldn't be that surprising, but what is surprising is that he just keeps doing other shit despite the extremely low retention rate.

Doug's audience, everyone. When they aren't defending someone who hid a child groomer, they're requesting shit like this that seventeen other people agreed with.
In 20 years, Doug will do that. 20 years, when he's scraping the bottom of the barrel in the depths of China. Also, the guy who commented that looks to be kind of an exceptional individual.

From that thumbnail and the format it's like he's trying to just be every other movie reviewing YouTuber but he's so out of touch with the current styles of video essay. He doesn't need to keep cutting back to himself so much if he isn't having a shrieking, cartoonish reaction to what's happening on screen.

The tragic failure that is Doug Walker career is only greater when you compare him not to James Rolfe but one of his greatest imitators, a man that actually surpassed his inspiration.
Allow me to introduce you to John Miranda, better known online as el Critico Histérico (Hysterical Critic) from Huérfano Producciones.

John is a chilean reviewer who unlike many of his contemporaries (at least back in the day) has a communications degree and started on the angry reviewer trend way before anyone else had on LATAM. Although he has covered overall bad movies his main focus are bad movies from his country, yet this didnt stop him to reach a broader audience. He recognized himself as a rip off but even in his blunder years he was far more knownledgeable than many others. He was the main contributor of Poptagono, taco version of CA which funnily was more professional, alongside Jerry Nava (The Mexican Snob/Film Renegado, yes really) who was somewhat of an affiliate of CA.

John has been a backbone of spanish typing Internet almost since the beggining, he might not presume the numbers of the infamous German Garmendia or Dross Rotzank (who has a thread here and is somewhat of a rival) but has been massively influential on many creators.

Just as Doug he retired his main character at one point, at around the same point actually, not in a pathetic movie but a review. Unlike NC, the retirement of Critico was a major event for others creators and many begin to try to take his place.
(Only time he uses his face on the thumbnail)

And then John created The exceptional individual Gamer Show which unlike Demo Reel wasnt a selfindulgent shitfest but a genuine labor of passion. His audience liked him and his work, not one above the other. He returned as the Critic a few years ago and has even reviewed dramas and comics.

He doesnt upload very often and recognizes he might be too old to keep doing what he does, and yet does it out of respect for his audience and as a creative outlet to relax from his actual job. He doesnt see YouTube as anything more than entertainment (he joined the nine year old army) and still seems more successful than the man he ripped off. All without even 100k subs.

I'm gonna have to take your word on all this since I barely understand Spanish.

Didn't John Miranda made a collab video with Lupa and other CA ex-affiliates? While his videos always seemed too close to Doug's style, I thought he was more inspired by Phelous really. His review of the latest Nicolás López film is great mostly because he kept López' abuse allegations as a jokey footnote towards the end and focused on the movie itself (specially on how tone-deaf and stupid the plot is).

The tl;dr version of López for anyone interested: a nerdy fat guy who made at first decent nerdy-appealing movies and then sold his soul for SJW bucks just to be revealed last year that he was a rapist.

Also, more on-topic: I never watched any Kaufman material to be honest, but that thumbnail is fucking terrible.

So there is no way I’m watching someone lambast a movie I enjoy. Can some Brave soul who watched it sum up his Why the Man on the Moon sucks video?
They're the same complaints you could levy against any biopic: the movie is just a greatest hits compilation of the person's life, the character is played too broad, the film misinterprets events and glosses over the person's faults, etc, etc. He also criticizes Carey for being a method actor and, well, yeah, method actors are scum.

Biopics are hard to pull off when they concern persons who are still popular with a sizeable crowd since you cannot present that person in any way that is too negative. You have to gloss over a lot of stuff.

Also, you want the biopic to support the story you're trying to tell.

The moral of Ed Wood is "Dreams are worth fighting for."

The moral of Ed Wood's life is "Keep your day job."

Ed Wood knew it, too. His autobiography is a warning not to do it the way he did.

The film's great, though.
