This guy brings up a good point. I remember back when Doug reviewed The Cell and the reactions were all over the place, netting the review a pretty low rating on TGWTG's star system. Looking back on it, it definitely has all the trappings of an "out of place movie" for him to cover. He just walked through the film saying "The director wants this to be weird and artsy and thought-provoking." without really delving into the deeper meanings the film is trying to convey. The only real thing he got out of it was "child abuse is bad, m'kay?" which was one of the more obvious messages that even simpletons would understand.
Hell he even mocked the artsy-ness with that joke about the director hopping about going, "Ask me what it means, ask me what it means!" Which isn't exactly a good mindset to have when going into a movie that's deliberately trying to be thought-provoking.
If he just plain didn't like arthouse movies that'd be understandable, but it's another thing entirely to mock them for not catering to what he wants in a movie.

Wow, I legit was feeling a bit bad for her(?) last night since I saw a talented animator being tragically tainted by appearing in a disaster-piece, but she ends up becoming a cow in one response. I guess I should've listened to my gut when I saw how much she uses her, uh, cat thingy.
Can't wait to see how this turns out.
It's a dude. And I think it comes down to him not wanting to admit how much of a shitshow the whole thing is, so he's trying to divert attention.

What are the odds that Fennah becomes a full blown Doug hater? Appearing in any Doug material just pisses them off after #CTC.
Definitely not for awhile barring unusual circumstances, it would look quite bad to denounce someone immediately after you released your work on their channel, especially considering that appearing in Doug's videos will assist Fennah's view count regardless. More views are something every animator treasures, even more so should they hold the ambition of working in the big leagues.

So from what I could gather via a few minutes of research, Fennah seems to be a 3d animator on YouTube with 174k subs and a tick on his channel. With the rise of free 3d animation software like blender and modern computers being quite powerful (along with the fact most animated movies these days are CGI), a lot more people are getting into 3d animation. He had a small following along with some OCs/characters he had used in his own video series. Chances are he probably saw this as an opportunity to springboard his career a bit more yet in the end it backfired extremely hard.
A lot of furry artists/furries don't get why their OCs would be called "deviantart furry OCs". It's because it's pretty much a synonym for mediocre character design, especially when said characters are self inserts. It didn't help that Doug's crossover with said internet animator felt out of place in a video that was already a clusterfuck. That JAR media video taking the piss out of Doug's The Wall video even touched upon that and called it out of left field basically.
Before Doug's review blew up, chances are he also didn't get much of this type of criticism before.

I have no words to accurately describe how cringey the actual review is. Like, WOW. Haven't even watched the entire thing, but I've seen enough.
However, the way the internet has been responding to it has bought me tons of entertainment. Everybody is laughing at Doug for this, and it's hilarious. So ... I guess the review was actually worth it?
I don't understand the appeal of the Nostalgia Critic these days. Back in his earliest days, I get it. In fact, I can watch some of his oldest videos and still understand the appeal. There was something quaint back then about a dude sitting in front of a camera and playfully jabbing at some bad movies while playing a character (well ... We all thought it was a character back then ...). Doug could literally have that same production value/formula today and the videos would go over better than these "big production" videos.
Doug keeps trying to branch out into "new territory," and he falls flat on his face every single time. I'd feel sorry for him if he didn't have such a massive ego.
