TGWTG "Nostalgia Critic" / Doug Walker, Rob Walker, Mike Michaud, Mike Ellis, Holly Christine Brown, et al - The Incompetent Predator-Protecting Upper Management of Channel Awesome, Doug Still Not That Funny

wasn't it a bit funnier than that? i seem to remember there being some Age of Consent fuckery, that made it NOT child porn for where 8chan was hosted, but it was child porn for where Dan Olsen was.
The story I heard was: Laurelai Bailey created a server and planted child porn there. Dan would find it, and report it and make an article about it, and 8Chan would get shut down. Except the way Dan did it was through downloading and describing it, he could be on the hook for posession according to Canadian laws.

That is one of the most "toxic white liberal" things I've ever heard.

He NEEDED to destroy the enemies, so his idea was to plant Kiddie Porn on them...WHAT?!?!

Then to plant it on them, he has to possess it and then gets himself in trouble.

But guys guys, he's not a child pornographer...that is a baseless accusation man!

Yeah, because "Gaining possession of kiddie porn to pin it on someone else" sounds so much better.

I’ll take Doug over most any other ex-CA employee. Even if he does have a bit of an ego, it’s way smaller than people like Lupa or Lewis. And Doug is at least willing to mock himself.

I'll take Doug over them too because he, at worst, is a slightly annoying weirdo.

Most of the rest of them are either beyond pathetic (Spoony), manipulative (Lindsey), disgusting (Linkara), or vindictive (Lupa).

Doug gave off the most sped vibes out of CA but over the years proved himself to be the most responsible, how ironic.

The difference is for Doug, the Nostalgia Critic is only an act. One he is happy to make a living from and milk to death, yes, but when the camera's off, he throws off the hat and tie and lives his life.

All these other idiots? They believe thier own stupid shit, be it Linkara's awful comic book tributes, Erod's magic hammer, or Linday Ellis thinking she's an intellectual despite spending most of her career talking about children's cartoon. This was and is a lifestyle for them. They live and die for it.

Didn't see that video, how bad was it?
It's not a video. It's the skit before the review of Wonder Woman 1984. I don't think it was a knock at Snyder as Doug did like the Snyder Cut but more the idea the directors in that league had mixed reception when they were allowed to do what they want unlike Snyder who got critical acclaim with his cut of Justice League.

I know that people get on Doug for making points long after others have made them, but has this "Justice League of Directors" skit been something that he missed the boat on and is just now crossing the finish line?

Slightly off topic (maybe) but I finally watched The Wall. Yes, I know. A film fag hasn't seen arguably the definitive cult musical but I have my reasons. Namely, I don't like musicals -sans the work by Trey Parker & Matt Stone- and I'm not a fan of Pink Floyd. If I want to listen to 70's prog rock then I'll listen to Goblin, thank you very much.

So it's funny to watch all of these video analysis of Doug Walker's abortion and finally seeing the work that which birthed the abortion. Something something Greek mythology metaphor.

Visually, the film is fantastic. Just expertly done. The music I liked quite a bit. I am a little tempted to edit out the music and put in my own soundtrack however blasphemous that might be to some. But I liked it. Great film.

Doug's video is so intentionally misreading the movie that it seems like he has a personal vendetta against it. Someone in one of the response videos joked that perhaps Doug had a bully who wore Pink Floyd shirts? That honestly seems plausible. Or he liked a girl who was into Pink Floyd who rejected his advances. The uncle who molested him mentioned the movie once. Dark Side of the Moon happened to be on while his mother lay on her death bed. Something like that. Because his video is so spiteful and contrarian. It comes off as "Fuck this movie. Fuck this album. Fuck this band. Fuck these people. Fuck everyone involved in this."

I don't think it was him using this as an opportunity to show his filmmaking and singing skills because he could have picked any musical to parody. He deliberately chose The Wall out of some petty balled up hatred that has been brewing for god knows how long.

I'd like to see the asshole try to make the same kind of video attacking Eraserhead. It would go over just as poorly and would probably lead to David Lynch calling him a retard during his daily weatherman videos.

I think they meant he’s late on reviewing the movie itself. He’s poked fun at all those directors before in various videos.

I get what you’re saying, but I don’t think it’s as deep as you’re making it. Most of the vitriol is coming from the fact he’s making fun of something super beloved.
