At least he's studying comic books now and doing something to improve his art.Goodness me! It's been an entire week since my last journal! That's hilarious because back then, I was planning on getting right to work! Instead, I've been planet-busting the Grox into nonexistence and silently starting to work on Page 2 of my third book. And I've been enjoying the peace and quiet a whole lot!Why would I *ever* want such a perpetual vacation to end?! Oh yeah, right; because I still have my quest for power and glory to continue embarking upon! TO GLORY!

Anyway, Operation Collaboration will be a go after I spread the word some. Before I set a tentative summit date, I'm going to be talking it over with prominent members of Deviantart's community; official volunteers, staff, etc. While I get on that in addition to drawing the second page for my third book, this is a feature I wanted to do for quite some time.
*AHEM!*
Attention viewers, attention. I've been doing some more studying of cartoons because I plan on working in that field by making my comic book into one (probably 20 years from now), and I've also wanted to find those that have not been already picked to death by popular culture. Not too long ago (half a month), I begun getting hooked to the show Wayside, which I found to be quite cute. So, give Canada some props. After the pop-song theme song, it's clear what the show is about: life at a school that defies conventions. In fact, cartoon physics have been activated! In example, I remember seeing one or two characters from a scene or two sliding up the stairs; and arms that stretch like in the episode Snow Day (or the 360-degree head-rotation at the very beginning of that same episode). And Slow Mo Mo shows Principal Kidswatter at two places at once!
To me, the drawing is very nice, the storytelling is decent (even if my adult brain can see some gags a mile away; and the dead-rat-gag gets old after a while, so in my opinion, the show needs less dead rat), the premise of a convention-defying institution is a fascinating oxymoron, and what really puts Wayside on the map is its characters! I adore and admire just how different and weird they all are! There's Dana the geeky rulebook girl, Louis the groundskeeper who is so laid back it's awesome, and I really like how childish Principal Kidswatter is. And he's the principal, so he's supposed to be the authority figure! I also see a lot of Myron in myself, the one who always quests for power and glory! Myron proves there is nothing wrong with questing for power or glory, but his fault is most of the time, he doesn't actually workfor it, or when he does like in the Wayside Movie, it tends to fail spectacularly (an exception happens in one episode where somehow, the dead rat Sammy is introduced to the classroom). And then there's my favorite, Maurecia. She's so cute and romantic, yet she has such life and fight in her! That's my kind of girl. And in the episode Principles of Principals, she brought what may have been one of THE most hilarious lines ever: "Detention by Candlelight!" And the way she presents it is simply amazing. Honestly, "Detention by Candlelight" should go right up there with Gloryhammer's "Unicorn Invasion!"
That line of hers is even funnier in context! ("OH, Principal Todd, I got in trouble for this love note and I was sent to see the principal!
") You know, for someone like her, if she punches me to show affection, I'd counter with some slick martial arts move, then I'd say, "I like you!" But Todd our main character is dictionary-definition average (source cited: dictionary.reference.com/brows… ), which in a place like Wayside, is weird in and of itself!
In conclusion, I wish Real Life tm were more animated and colorful like this! What about you? Opinions? Would you like more features like this? To finish off, I'm going to link to a couple episodes for examples, then I'll feature what I can find from Deviantart! WOO-HOO! FEATURE TIME!![]()
Funny, the majority of art I could find involves Maurecia and/or Todd. True, Maurecia IS my favorite, but I like the others, also! And I think Principal Kidswatter could use more love, too!
Let's see what other awesome toons I dig up next time. Until then, I have my own ultimate epic cartoon to concoct! Take care, have fun, and kick tail!![]()
