I can't wait to see him play it tbh. Him and dead-air do not mix well, it's just gonna be a lot of dead eyed staring at the screen in between begging for "interaction" and insulting Kojima. I see him dropping this game or pushing it to a bi-weekly basis.
you bringing up dead air makes me think, how many black people are going to show up(in game) deaths stranding may just be the the thing that proves or disproves his fear of the darky if it has any black people in it at all

Constant (maybe even tiresome) inventory management?

1.gif

Check.

Having to constantly keep your balance by pushing buttons while juggling a stack of cases on your back and traversing uneven terrain by foot?

2.gif

Check.

Picking up all of your inventory scattered across hundreds of square meters every time you fall or win a fight?

3.gif

Check.

Stealth?

5.gif

Check.

Bugged ladder climbing mechanics?

Check.

What on earth could go wrong? :stress:

OK, I considered not asking but I've gotta know. What about the phrase dead-air, made you wonder about Daves innate racism? I gotta know how that triggered that thought process for you, it'll bug me if I don't find out.

You can automatically sort your gear into optimal balancing order so that itself won't be an issue for him. It's on-screen stuff that I feel will figuratively and literally trip him up because he's actually going blind and won't even venture outside to see an optician. A game about trying to connect with others in the real world is sort of perfect foil for a hermit who less than 24 hours ago was repulsed by the suggestion of playing games with the very people who pay for them and who show up to pay to "interact" with him.

Contextual prompts, landscape surveillance, weight distribution, destination plotting on map.. all amounting to dual trigger and dual stick manipulation. It's like Kojima designed a game specifically to fuck with him in all the ways we'd want to see where he gasp has to do everything for himself and only now and again will he find tools left behind by other players. The highest rated aids found in the world have probably been placed there already by reviewers and asshole fake gaming yootoobers who are far more popular than him. Do you really think if he finds a bike left behind by Pewdiepie that he's going to jam that like button?

And we've barely even considered how he'll react to FUCKINKOJIMBO's story.. a game with an ending over 2 hours long. It's like MGS4 (which Phil hated) after snorting some good wasabi.

My predictions for this playthrough

  • "peepul sayin the game is <something he read on Twitter>, guys" meme to build hype
  • Makes money the first stream by people showing up to see the game
    • Massive pre-stream
  • First stream is mostly cutscenes, sausage mode and dead air
  • After first stream, tweet how much fun he's having and it's pretty cool, but hasn't really got to the cool part, dont forget to check it out on YouTube
  • Progressively lose viewers and suck at game
  • Progressively grow saltier towards Kojima
  • Says the reviewers are wrong and shills, he is right and the average joe gamer
  • Game sucks and is broken/buggy/boring/poorly designed
  • Also tries not to piss off Kojima fans too much but can't help it
  • Last episode is a 2 hour cutscene (yes I heard that is actually how it is)
    • Massive dead air
  • Meltdown, major T-poses

While I was writing this I realized this can be applied to most of what he plays.

Why am I tahxic?

he will do opposite of what mainstream opinion is. So if everyyone loves he will say kojima is horrible and game sucks. IDK how he will do in an amazon driver simulator.

someone brought it up in the anxiety thread, he bites his fingers when he sees black people. ENTIRELY during dead air when he doesn't need to control a character

From what I understand the game is trying to be like Twin Peaks for gaming ie high art with a solid pleb filter on it. Also it seems like if you fail most missions, that's it, although the game doesn't end so you have to deal with the consequences. However the lack of a traditional fail state means he might not rage too hard. I think it'll just be ungodly boring, even more so than usual.

The big thing is that the “Game Over” state Apparently you have to try to die to get it. But knowing DSP we might see a few.
The “Game Over” state is kinda weird, if you “die” the first time you go into a second challenge area thing and if you can get out of it you’re fine, but if you die in the second area you get a “Void Out” which creates a giant ass crater in the map and drops you off at your last save point. So you lose all your progress that you made through potentially DSP rage inducing terrain. This is worse as if you are in a new area you wont have any of the shared buildings to help you only ladders and repelling ropes.

He's going to bored quit it. The game is a slow burn (it's a Kojima game), it's unusual, and Phil only like walking simulators that do all of the work for you.
This may be one of the blandest "commentaries" we'll have ever seen. He will just explain everything on screen, for the blind people in his audience.

There are a couple black people, one is a main character.

Y'all are gonna be so disappointed when Phil loves slowly waddling about the empty wilderness.
By all accounts that's not what the game is, though. Having looked into it a bit more I'd like to retcon my previous post, it looks like there's a lot of micromanagement involved in traversing the landscape. You have to plan your route, kit yourself out appropriately, and while you're walking you have to manage the weight of your load. If you're walking up a mountain and it's wet, you'll need to shift the weight of your pack to avoid slipping. You also can't go ploughing into rivers or you'll get swept away. You can plan to avoid these areas, but that takes more time and different resources. So it looks like there's a lot of micromanagement in the gameplay loop. So we might see some salt until he realises the fail state - in terms of just completing the game at least - doesn't really matter (it matters to people who like games and can get invested in them, which is the point).

Also, I suspect he'll get very low views and cahntributions for the game. Like God of War, I think a lot of people will want to play the game for themselves and avoid spoilers. This is the only 100% guaranteed way to generate good salt from DSP. If no one turns out to watch, he'll turn toxic in no time.
