People should be able to work and then die of a heart attack. Thats the ideal way to die.

Why should it be legal for manipulative assholes to take care of old people for money. That i think is evil. I also think sociologists, psychologists and social workers are evil aswell. People think of them as Dr.Phil but they are more like Dr.Silberman from Terminator movies. They wanna profit and manipulate, its nothing honorable about that profession. I wish it was banned.

Atleast hospitals where its surgery, vaccines etc, those are atleast good for humanity but yeah

Well you have a home like any normal person, and if you wanna work, then you can. Problem with countries like Sweden and Norway is they dont wanna make a job market, they wanna get more sick people, so that they get on welfare and so they can give manipulative assholes work to exploit those people, rather than making a job market where you get built up

Denmark i think is one exception, they have porn industry, they gave the world LEGO. And they kind of are more motivated in work ethics. Norway and Sweden just makes no innovations and are lazy countries who just happens to have some way to profit by exporting stuff

There's a problem currently where a long known shit hole nursing home (the type folks go when they are out of money and are waiting to die) had a major outbreak of Covid. Everyone caught it, and a lot of people died. Place should have been burned down years ago. Maybe they finally will just torch it. I will dance on its ashes.

I couldn't ever dream of leaving my grandparents in a nursing home. Sure it was stressful, very much so, but my dad and I took care of both of them until they passed. It was much easier knowing they spent their final years with family rather than rotting away in some sterile hellhole waiting to die. Unfortunately it's not that easy for a lot of people which is why I don't object to them, but they should at least be held to much higher standards than they are now. A lot of them are infested with really scummy people who don't care about the people there and just want a paycheck.

I agree that elderly people are parasites and should just be allowed to starve when they've fallen and can't get up though, society should not be forced by the government to keep them alive if their own family won't pay for their care.

It sucks. My mom and I took care of my grandmother as long as possible in her home, but we both worked. Towards the end she was calling the cops to report my grandfather missing (he had died over ten years before), and we were getting calls from concerned neighbors who were finding her on the sidewalk, three houses from hers, and totally lost. Plus she od'd on the medicine we portioned out on her, by thinking she fell asleep and it was a new day, so she took all the morning pills for the week in one day. We visited her everyday when she was in the home, did her laundry, made sure she wasn't being ignored. It was just about as exhausting, but she only lived about four months more.

Depends on the person. Being old doesnt mean one is a bad person. But some people are just bad to begin with.. people with no self reflection i hate. That just acts like they are above everything

My mom told me that when my great grandma died it was because she fell or something and the doctors said if she were to keep living it would have to be in a nursing home and she said "fuck that" and let herself die.

I can't blame her. Look at all the stds, elder abuse, and rape.

Theres a difference between nursing homea and assisted living retirement communities, just a heads up.

Choosing a "forever home" is a big deal and a serious discussion for families to have. Yeah, there can be shitty places, but there are ritzy ones too. If Mom is scared of falling at home and dying of dehydration, maybe assisted living is the way to go. They pretty much all offer hospice care if you wanna die comfortably. Some Moms are fine dying on the kitchen floor from dehydration, that's fine too, I guess.

Also, elder abuse and rape can happen, but you can vet those places with a visit and usually vet the staff. I've worked with places that even provide background checks to families on their staff. The STDs are usually transmitted among residents, but once you hit 80, who gives a shit? Get some Grandpa!

I'm not saying the industry is 100% wholesome, but just want to point out that there's a lot of misconceptions about senior care that just come from the worst of the worst news stories, and not being educated on what sort of services places offer now a days compared to like, 20 years ago.

I think the right to die should be a human right. Sometimes keeping alive and suffering in pain is more inhumane.

Where are people getting that all old people are all parasites who need people to do everything? That certainly happens but there are also a substantial amount of people who keep their wits, stay active, and financially independent until the very end.

Isnt a person dead to begin with if you have no will power to die like a man. Not saying that you go to hell if you kill yourself but... i dont see the point in it. You have a life to fill out til you die. Then you die. Or how i see it

Think only legit way i would consider suicide "and thats only last option" is if people were to try to force me to a nursing home, no friggin way i am giving those assholes cash

You aren't an expert on anything, especially on what it means to be alive. Your definition of the meaning of life is literally the most bugman shit I've ever seen: "Live to work until your limbs break, and then die". Congrats, you see humans as no different than a fucking termite. Can you even conceive of a deeper layer to the human experience than "work, consume, sleep, work, consume, sleep" until you grow feeble and the rest of the hive kills you and recycles your body for nutrients?
