Occasionlly? The only nodes I get in the random shuffle that don't upgrade to https are usually located in Austria, everything else does and causes

I've disabled https everywhere and it doesn't help. Many of the nodes I am offered force the upgrade from https://kiwifarms to https://onion and http://onion to https://onion and the browser just goes along with it and that just leads to the site not working.

I know the nodes are involved, because if I do "new circuit for this site" about 30-60 times I get Austrian node and so far they haven't changed the http part and everything works fine.

I don't know if it is the tor server operators who hate kiwifarms, the browser, or if it is just kiwifarms itself misconfigured, but that is what is happening at least to me. Maybe add something so https://onion works as I'm guessing these "forced helpful protocol upgrades" will probably be in more and more nodes sooner or later.

edit: i'm retarded with wording. it was redirecting consistently to tor just 20 minutes ago, now it's back to normal on the clearnet

ok, managed to replicate it:

i'm using a vpn, Mullvad, and the system that detects if you're in the tornet must be misfiring on vpn endpoints.

No, for some reason it's just an automatic redirection on the forum side. Anything it recognizes as coming from an exit node gets sent to the onion service. This is also my guess as to why it randomly sends you to the HTTPS onion link (which doesn't work) whenever the onion itself is dead or it shits the bed in some other way. The unmasking attack happens naturally as you cycle 20 identities to find a route that will not get picked up. Want to know who uses KF over Tor? Just look for constant identity changes over a small period of time.

I really hope this is being done to counter some kind of DDoS of the normal clearnet portal through Tor, otherwise it's the most annoying and useless fucking shit I've seen a website do. Read the thread back previously myself, only thing I could find was that Tor users are apparently niggers. Not wrong, but doesn't explain it either.

ETA: Perhaps that Mullvad server also runs an exit node?

I don't know anything about why the onion site is so finicky but I hope the new router helps with that.

if you're having trouble accessing the TOR site try setting your useragent to default browser or firefox compat mode in aboutonfig. As far as I can tell the TOR mirror is never down.

Haven't experienced redirection fuck-ups for days now, onion always works. Could've been the router change (and maybe some configs as part of it), could've been something else, I'm just happy that it works.

Seconding Frail Snail's post, things have improved greatly in the past few weeks. I used to have to refresh my circuit and log back in randomly as the onion site would just stop working but ever since the new router it seems to be solid.

Yes, it's sometimes slow and fails to load pages from time to time. Usual DDoS symptoms.
It's actually a little better now on my end.

Is the url for the icons not being rewritten to be retrieved from the onion site instead of the clearnet site for the chat, and is it supposed to be that way? Also due to TOR connection stability, sometimes when it says "Connection Lost" the chat goes blank, and reappears over and over like a strobe light, very hard to read when it happens, though fortunatly it doesn't last more than a few dozen second so far, could it just have a message nearby saying disconnected and have the chat untouched?
