No shit. But beyond the suburbs - metro Toronto, for example, is full of wealthy people as well who are very fiscally minded and dare I say conservative. A proposed public housing complex suggested recently was enough for them to threaten to sue the city. Taxes are kept low in Toronto for well off people and that's the way they want to see it. They voted for ''Rob Ford'' to become their mayor and put up with him even despite the drug problems, incompetency because he had policies that would protect the wealthy from spending a cent. And it's the same with his bother Doug Ford as Premier.

Though Doug got elected from a mix of both social and fiscal conservatives. Which brings me to my next topic - much of the smaller towns and mid sized cities in Ontario are filled with ''social conservatives''. Sam Oosterhoff the then 19 year old politician with no experience or formal education from Niagra was only elected for one reason - he promised to outlaw abortion. He now sits on Doug Ford's cabinet. There are plenty M.P's just like him too being elected who make similar promises to the people.

Alberta isn't a fraction as Conservative as Ontario

Alberta is "kept in line" with all of the transplants from other provinces. the Majority that flock here are the liberals who couldn't get jobs in other parts of the country and end up here because there's (historically) so much demand for workers that born-Albertans alone can't fill those job vacancies.

If our politics were shaped and decided by just the home-grown population, Alberta would still be in 1955 as it rightfully should be.

I used to be a hotel housekeeper across the street from a shopping mall in Pennsylvania that attracted Canadians for whatever reason.
Half the guests were "Canadian" and they were either Chinese/Korean(not bad) or Indians(left horrible messes which took forever to clean up)
or white Canadians. One older couple was telling me adamantly how much they *personally hated smokers* and kept pointing to 2 people standing out the hotel walls and smoking

Sieze advantage of a chaotic mess, yes. Help? Maybe a few US batallions would deploy near the border, to secure it or take advantage of the chaos. Commonwealth supply planes, but I imagine they would be better suited to a counter offence towards whoever invaded.

Dealing with the non-urbanites would be the hardest part. Guess where most of the resources you would want to control are? Out in the middle of thousands of sqKM of wilderness. Where everybody knows how to hunt, and some of them are good hunters. In Minecraft, of course.
