One of my favorite Oneyplays pairings is Oney, Corey, and Dave because of the weird obscure shit they would always bring up during their playthroughs and reactions to Corey's cum brain. Unfortunately anymore of these playthroughs won't happen in the foreseeable future, what with Dave wrapped up with FNF and Corey too busy recording Skaa coom albums. :(

I'm sure it's been mentioned already in either this thread or in the Shadman one or one of the other multiple SleepyCabin adjacent threads we have, but Stamper has mentioned recently he's involved in a lawsuit through his work with The Behemoth on Battleblock Theater. I didn't know the specific details, but apparently it has to do with Stamper allegedly sexually harassing or "discriminating" against an individual named Robert Cleveland. The documents are currently on Pacer, although I don't have the inclination to pay to view them.

This document is currently public, dates from May 28th 2021, and provides some context. It's a denial for motion for sanctions pertaining to "untimely production of discovery," and concerns itself mostly with screenshots and archives of slack and social media, mainly from Stamper's accounts. I've got a horrible attention span and a complete lack of knowledge when it comes to legal matters so somebody will undoubtedly be able to offer a more informative explanation.

The plaintiff is named Robert Cleveland and I've not been able to find anything about him relating to Behemoth, Stamper, or Battleblock.

It's probably been posted already but here's the pacer for the case.

Additionally, we really do need a thread for Stamper but I don't have the time, knowledge, or inclination to make one. I might have some screenshots or the like from his twitter circa 2019/2020, but that's all I can offer.

I believe there was someone who was gonna dig into everything about Stamper's lawsuit but then we hit the paywall and it fizzled out from there, either way Stamper has the worst case of foot in mouth syndrome holy fuck

I also like that Chris got so much shit for saying he didn't get into earthbound because I remember going "Oh that's a shame, but I get it" and moved on, that game blows ass whenever you have to actually play it

God the combat of Yiik is so fucking bad, not only you keep seeing the same 3-4 enemies all the time but motherfuckers are made of adamantium so they take a shitton of attacks (that barely do any decent damage btw) to take just one. Add the fact that some enemies just exist to spam you those annoying minigames that get repetitive very quickly and the cherry on the top are the ones that heal themselves and others you know, because the battles aren't long enough.

Watching how the the boys patience with the game has run down and they are just starting shitting on it is fucking hilarious tho.

Imagine how bad the fights were before they patched the battles to be shorter. That hula hoop special attack whet he had to keep pressing “A” in a rhythm? That used to be what you had to do for a normal attack. Every time.

Actually watching a full playthrough of Yiik is pain, even with the guys lampooning it.

The initial few episodes inspired me to download the game and give it a try. They haven't show it in this playthrough, but in each character's menu there is an
option to turn the character's special move into their regular attack, like how it was on initial release. There's also an option to turn off the elemental garbage.

It's been said to death at this point, but you really have to wonder if the devs have actually played any other turn based RPG themselves because this entire game just shows
a fundamental lack of understanding of the genre. It's not even trying to do its own thing which I could respect even if it turned out bad; the devs just stole ideas from actual good games and made a Great Value hodgepodge that has zero identity of its own, I mean other 'bad'.

The 5000 HP enemies (that heal!) is just the game very intentionally wasting your time and should be on anyone's shitlist for that alone.

When people say this game has potential I strongly disagree; there's so much broken about it that fixing all of it would basically leave you with an entirely different game.

Solar System Brain Take: this is the post-modern criticism of the genre, highlighting the suffering of turn-based combat grinding, to make you existentially question the logic of all JRPG's combat.

...is what Andrew Assholeson would like journalists to think. It could also be a spiteful bait-and-switch on anyone he was selling this "grand revision" to, fans and normal gamers alike. It could just be total incompetence, but that's the least interesting possibility.

The only winning move is not to play. I continue to consume this content by proxy only. Get fucked you talentless indie retard.

I think the main divide is between the people watching it and the people who are playing/played it. Watching a JRPG be played you take in the back seat and can look at everything as a full picture. What the story is, how these characters are acting like this, the music, art, and collect your thoughts better. You can skip through the grinding (thankfully Oneyplays has been cutting around it which is nice), and always fall back on the story/character bits as you go around

But when you're PLAYING a JRPG (especially when its like YIIK that is really rough and playing for other people no less), that first bit starts to turn into frustration and just "Holy shit, can I fucking move on?" You need to manage the party, inventory, make sure you dodge encounters if possible, all the while being frustrated by what the game can throw at you. There are games like FFIV and Chrono Trigger that manage to handle the JRPG in both gameplay and story without making the player start to get annoyed through a good progression. You can def hear it in Chris' voice when he gets blindsided by enemies or messes up a dodge and it's the same overinflated HP bars each time which messes that progression in YIIK but they're enjoying each other's time so it covers that gap.

I can agree that if they fixed the problems in this game YIIK would be so much different and would be better of relabeled as a remake or something. But at least from me watching the game I've been enjoying YIIK for how stupid it is, but can appreciate some cool set pieces and music, I wouldn't play it though, god no.

I watched Snakerers long ass video on Yiik and I'm curious now. Did they actually nerf LP toss with the combat update? Because you could abuse that move since it comboed easily and stacked to absurd levels. It was the only viable attack move essentially.

I plan on giving this game a shot eventually since I feel like it's The Room of video games essentially so I'd like to know if there's still a fall back if everything goes wrong and I get pissed.

By the looks of it the attack was nerfed specifically so the targets will sometimes just take off again despite getting temporarily stunlocked. Rather than improve the power of other attacks now you just don't have the ace in the hole (at least that I've seen) that makes fighting almost approach tolerable.
