I doubt Bernie will run again. He will be nearly 80 by the next time it comes around.

And I hope Hillary doesn't run again because fuck that cunt.

I hope the Dems come up with someone with less baggage than Oprah. My guess is they'd naturally run a woman, though, since that is the single population most furious at Trump, and that would be the easiest way to motivate that demographic. Actually making it a black woman is even better from that sole perspective.

I find the idea frankly bizarre, but plenty of people said the same about Reagan and about Trump, who is a pissant reality show star who had shitty ratings and a shitty show. Oprah's is pretty shitty, too, and she promoted quackery and bullshit and all kinds of nonsense that could easily be used against her.

All I'll really say about her is she'd be a better candidate than the horrible shitty human being Hillary was.

Trump ended up winning white women anyways, didn't he? Imagine the Dems doubling down on the woman card, running another "I'm With HER" style campaign, and losing again :story:

They'll probably run Kamala Harris for all the reasons you outlined for Oprah. And she indeed has way less baggage than Oprah does.

Why anyone but the most basic white bitch would vote for the person who inflicted "Doctors" Phil and Oz upon this country is beyond me. Oprah is such a terrible idea for the presidency that I'd actually vote for Trump against her instead of weaseling out and voting third party like I usually do.

In an interview conducted weeks before her Golden Globe Awards speech inspired calls for a presidential run, Oprah Winfrey acknowledged there already had been public support for the idea, and that she was uninterested.

Laughing as she recalled having seen “a cute mug” saying “Oprah 2020,” the media mogul and sometime actress, who turns 64 on Jan. 29, jokes in the new issue of InStyle magazine, “All you need is a mug and some campaign literature and a T-shirt.” Turning serious, she adds that “I’ve always felt very secure and confident with myself in knowing what I could do and what I could not. And so it’s not something that interests me. I don’t have the DNA for it.”

Following Winfrey’s impassioned speech about women’s rights and a free press as she accepted the Hollywood Foreign Press Association’s Cecil B. DeMille Award on Jan. 7, an outpouring of support for the notion of a presidential campaign sprang up on social media, from entertainers and writers to groups like the National Organization for Women and Moms Demand Action for Gun Sense in America.

The prospect was spurred by Winfrey’s partner of three decades, Stedman Graham, telling the Los Angeles Times that night, “It’s up to the people. She would absolutely do it.” But Winfrey’s longtime friend Gayle King said his comment was the result of miscommunication. “Stedman says that he thought the reporter said to him would she make a good president and he said absolutely she would,” King told her “CBS This Morning” co-anchor, Norah O’Donnell, two days later on their program.

In the interview, done three weeks before the awards, Oprah told InStyle that “Gayle — who knows me as well as I know myself practically — has been calling me regularly and texting me things, like a woman in the airport saying, ‘When’s Oprah going to run?’ So Gayle sends me these things, and then she’ll go, ‘I know, I know, I know! It wouldn’t be good for you — it would be good for everyone else.’ I met with someone the other day who said that they would help me with a campaign. That’s not for me.”

mark my words. she's going to run.

and we should be afraid

I wonder how people will respond in general. I would think of it as Hillarys campaign, the same Obama styled appearances made on almost every show, the same endorsements by the same celebrities, the same "This is the most important election in the history of the world" ads. Except swap out Hillary for Oprah.

Will people realize whats happening? Or will they just go along with it because "oh its Oprah zomg!"

I honestly think Oprah probably has the best chance out of everybody. Because the regular political opponents Trump has just don't have that force of personality and more to the point method of discussion that would be similar to say Obama.

Of course I believe Democrats and supporters will mention one of the the reasons they like Oprah will be the exact same reason people liked Trump "Oh she has such a refreshing way of speaking, none of that politcal PR spin!" never realizing that it's much of the same reason people liked Trump. They only see gender and skin color, and that big (R) next to the name and go "No way am I helping the Death Eaters!"

Oprah actually has charisma, but with a borderline sociopathic personality behind the scenes. She doesn't just have the best chance. If she runs, Trump has a very slim chance of victory.

Trump was the perfect counter to Hillary in every way, and even then, he likely would not have won if it had not been for her campaign's and supporters' extreme hubris. Oprah, on the other hand, is fairly similar to Trump. The Oprah brand is much stronger than the Trump brand however (at least before Trump had gotten elected) even if her channel was a flop. But she is high on the 'progressive stack' and she will not be afraid to exploit that. She is not someone driven by her twisted sense of morality, she is a cutthroat businesswoman.

Null was in chat the other day and this came up - he doesn't think Trump has a chance if she runs. I think he does, but it's going to depend a lot on how well his presidency goes the next few years as well as how well the dirt on Oprah is buried. And given we're just now finding out about the Nation of Islam Obama pictures, I have a feeling anything negative on her is going to get buried deep.

Not taking her seriously is dangerous. Trump supporters need to be gathering political ammo to use against her before it is too late. In fact, it'd be be wise to register democrat just to try and vote against her in the primary.
