I dont know if anyone here follows Rich Burlew's web comic The Order of the Stick. It's a play off the old D&D archetypes mixed up with a decent story and some great one liners.

Example; http://www.giantitp.com/comics/oots0102.html

Rich was convinced to give Kickstater a try so he could get his comics book published for his fans and ended up with over 1.2 million dollars in pre-orders!

Why am I making this thread you ask?

1. I like the strip and want to share it
2. It's nice to see a good guy getting ahead in this fucked up world for once.
3. It's nice to see Kickstarter working for once, rather then serving as a easy con job.

Check it out if your interested.

Meh, I think anyone who might be interested in this would be cowering in this slice of the forum.

It's about a web comic from a game so I guess it kinda fits?

Anyway if a mod gets pissy they can always move it.

Seems odd to bring up a kickstarter that happened years ago, and has since been surpassed numerous times

OOTS. I've always wondered why it updates so slowly for a stick comic that also happens to be the author's full time job.

Well for one thing the art has been upgraded significantly over the years(In the far past it updated like 3 times a week because of how simplistic it was), and health problems are another major thing that effects the scheduling. Especially in 2012 when Rich injured his hand on some broken glass, his updates stopped outright for like 3 months and from what he's said it's still not back to 100% what it was before the injury.

Yeah, supposedly Rich suffers from Chron's Disease or something, but he never confirmed it. It's still something that is not deadly, but affects his work significantly.

I know people who suffer from that disease. It can really hit you hard at times, without any real warning. It'd easily explain his lapses in scheduling, though honestly, I'd prefer the simpler artwork and enjoy the story more. Rich is one of the few authors that can genuinely draw me into the tales he tells, and having to wait so long for each new strip really is a drag.
