Beaten the Terran campaign and currently about halfway through the Zerg campaign.

So far I'm enjoying this game a lot. But damn is it mentally taxing. I'm not used to RTS's, so initially I was a bit initimidated and overwhelmed. The game does a good job at introducing you to new mechanics and units as you go through the game though.

I'm really liking playing as the Zerg so far. There's something inherently satisfying in sending an army of zerglings, hydrolisks, and mutalisks and having them fuck everything up.

Terrans were nice enough as well, but not having to worry about building new buildings for certain units every time I build a new hatchery for the Zerg helps me focus a bit more.

Wonder what the Protoss are like. So far I barely know anything about them and how they fit into the Starcraft universe. Looking forward to their campaign.

Protoss have the most convoluted and complex tech tree of the three, so you have to queue lots of tech buildings and research before you can start churning out their harder hitting units

Another thing to note is that the Protoss armies are quality over quantity, and their workers only begin the construction of buildings and can go back to mining immediately.

trying to get it now on the Blizzard App, but it says it is sold out. How can it be sold out?! It exists in cyberspace!

It's been sold out for a while. Probably ran out of keys and never restocked. As for its unavailability now, they had some issues with the new patch and delayed the public release of both it and the free versions of the games. You can get the Public Test Realm version right now. Sorry, page 404's now.

Their individual units did have energy shields and required multiple units to take down I notice. So I see what you mean.

I kinda like the dynamic the three different races have going. Zergs seem to rely on mass production and overwhelming their targets, Protoss are fewer in number but stronger as individuals, and the Terrans are sort of in the middle.

Fun fact: If you still have your old StarCraft CD, you can register the key to your Blizzard account and get a downloadable version. Pretty sure it works for D2 and WC3 as well. It's the easiest way to get a version that's compatible with newer PCs.

I'm vaguely interested in the remaster if only for nostalgia purposes. I wonder if they're going to re-balance anything or if it's literally just the same game with a facelift. I was never big on multiplayer but there were a handful of single player missions that were an absolute headache.

Valkyries are the only unit that's really getting a buff, as the bug that causes them to stop firing depending on how many sprites are on the battlefield is fixed.

Really friggen cool race. I love how you can have your drones build multiple things at once and watching as lone High Templars eradicate enemy mobs with ps ionic storms is satisfying.
