I honestly think Hollywood is out of big named Celebs to crucify. They barely had enough steam going into the Golden Globes to make it relevant and their sanctimonious bullshit kinda fell flat and late. If they want to stump that theme again at the Oscars and not look even more batshit insane than they already are, Hollywood's gonna have to cough up another scandal where some guy touched a woman's arm or had sex with them but only asked for consent once instead of every 5 minutes.

I think they'll fall back to the good ol standard of "Black People are underrepresented" 'cause that seems to never NOT be a something they REEE about, no matter how many nominations and awards are given. It's an easy one to consistently trot out, too because apparently the quality of the film doesn't matter to that movement. The fact that Tyler Perry has never won or been nominated is all the proof they need.

Wonder Woman was snubbed, you guise!

And, yeah, in a year when it really stunk (more than usual) to be a woman in America, Wonder Woman was a bit of high-quality escapism aimed precisely half the planet.
Yeah, life is really superduper hard when you have the time and money to go see a comic book film in a nice, air-conditioned movie theater.

If it weren't for the Oscars, stuff like The Darkest Hour and Phantom Thread would have never been made. The Oscars are Hollywood's last bastion of pretending to care about quality. Sure they're a stupid pointless award but if they didn't exist we'd just get 200 shitty superhero/sci-fi blockbusters a year and that'd be it. The only thing that'd matter would be money and that'd just mean pandering to China with flashy lights.
