  1. This is precisely why. If you have at least Zenyatta and Bastion you can melt anything that gets in your way like it's nothing.

  2. I love Uprising, I just wish it didn't take twenty minutes, it makes playing it over and over for the achievements pretty tedious. But that's just achievement hunting in general.
my friends also kind of suck at what they pick, but at least it's better than going solo-queue

  3. I got better results in Solo Queue, to be honest. My friends are awful at target prioritization and we lost the payload three times.

  4. I honestly get shit luck when it comes to randoms in solo que Uprising. Normal mode is piss easy so long as people know how to use each character, but Hard takes some real trial and error to figure out what works and it's REALLY difficult to convince the Reins in the last segment to not go off trying to ROFLstomp those annoying Bastions instead of just shielding, because (and I admit I only know this from doing it) the evil Bastions have a heal rate GREATER than the DPS that Rein alone can apply WHILE firing on other people. You can take these assholes out relatively easily on normal which I think is the problem, because that indicates you can do the same on harder difficulties. In truth, though, you absolutely NEED to focus fire on enemies in the last segment and only go after the Bastions if A) they're being particularly full of bullshit and B) the OR14-NS targets are not also an immediate threat. Otherwise, once the last OR14 dies then you're done and don't need to worry about the Bastions. In theory, since obviously I've yet to BEAT the Hard mode.

Of course, those fucking Orisa clones just love abusing the shit out of their shields and it makes going after the Bastions first super tempting. God I wish I had people I could reliably team up with but ultimately all I miss out on if I don't clear anything past hard is just some achievements which have arbitrary values (what are those for anyway?) and a few sprays I'd probably never use.

On the other hand, I don't think there's an event-exclusive skin I DON'T like this time around. So far I've only drawn nine boxes (free event box + two rank ups + three normal arcade victory boxes + the free win boxes from both forms of Uprising) and the number of dupes is annoying as always, but the second box gave me the Widowmaker Talon skin. Personally, that's the best one as the normal blue skin in 90% of all her options, lore appropriate or not, makes her look like a Smurf to me, and it wins over my old favorite Huntress because the gun is more geometric and industrial looking which is more my style. I hope by the end of this I manage to at least get Tracer's, Genji's (even though I hate this character and never play him, that's the only actual CYBORG skin and it's amazeballs), and Mercy's skins, too.

Oh, and somehow I managed to get that daunting 'Escort Duty' achievement by simply parking Orisa on the Numbani payload on the first time I'd ever actually used her in a match. So that's all the map achievements done at least.

  5. For hard, I found that Torb's turret worked best placed off the payload. Since the players are clustered on the bomb, putting the turret there just increased its chances of getting wrecked. What I also found was that the only reasonable method of quickly dispatching smaller mooks was headshots only. Torb and Mercy have to be aiming for the head, while Rein shields and Tracer disrupts. What I've also found is that the Tracer player absolutely needs to be able to manage recall and blink effectively or they're going to be spending a lot of time down. Torb and Rein players needn't be fucking up at all, if they do they shouldn't be using them. Mercy is surprisingly tricky with the balance between heals and boosts being rather fine mid combat.

  6. What heroes would you guys say are no-go's for Uprising? I tried it on hard the other day and I'm pretty sure we ended up losing the payload because someone was playing Junkrat.

  7. Genji, Junkrat, Hanzo, Ana, and McCree are mostly no gos. For me, I found that D.va, Orisa, 76, and Zenyatta curbstomped on hard.

  8. Yeah, unfortunately (but probably noted given Ana's little warning to Rein at the start of the mission), Reinhardt being there mostly to shield instead of attack is hard for people to get a hang of on the fly when one of his key skills is the exact opposite (charging headlong into enemies).

Also, where are the head hitboxes for those little Slicer fuckers? I know about the powercores on the backs of Bastion turrets and Eradicator drones (when shielded, if the shield's down then the core vanishes because now the head can be hit from all sides), but killing those little bastards is such a pain in the ass because I can empty a full Tracer clip into a Nullsoldier without headshots and kill it, but the same DOESN'T destroy a single Slicer.

Characters with high rates-of-fire/ranged DPS or utility powers (Zenny's Orb of Discord, Orisa's Supercharger) are a must at higher difficulties (says the guy who has yet to clear hard lol). Though after a Normal run with Reaper, I have to wonder how viable he would be as you can easily get up close and personal with all the enemies except transformed Bastions and unload point blank. And maybe if you can sneak up to the back of a turret bastion to blow the core before it can turn around or start doing buffed repairs.

  9. As far as I am aware, Slicers don't have a headshot box. I've used Reaper and Hog on them and never got a critical hitmarker. However, I noticed that Reaper can absolutely shred them once he gets in close, and Death Blossom is hilariously useful against everything except a shielded Eradicator.

My runs as Reaper indicated that his ideal role is to keep enemies away from the payload. His hunter-killer role in PvP doesnt seem to apply since his targets have either absurd health or a barrier that can stop his attacks dead. He would probably pair well with D.va.

Edit: give me a little while to finish up some quests in SWTOR and I'll jump back into Uprising to test a team comp.

Edit 2: Did ten matches with Reaper, then ten more with Pharah. Reaper is much more useful if another crowd control hero is in play. Pharah fills the hunter-killer role and the crowd control nicely though, so I'd happily say she's a must pick. The flip side is that a competent healer is a necessity for any team involving Pharah.

  10. I'm cursed with this new mode. Most of my friends have moved on from Overwatch and randoms either quit out halfway through or decide McCree, Symmetra and Junkrat make a killer team (on All Heroes obviously).

Every time they say 'Null Sector', it makes me think of KF.

  11. It baffles me how frequently people leave in Uprising. We'll be doing just fine and then at least one team member bails on us (though it's usually two for some bizarre reason). I've only played up to hard mode so far, so if the difficulty is tilting other players that much, I don't know why they even bother.

Also Junkrat and Hanzo really need to stop getting picked, they practically guarantee that you're gonna lose.

  12. I've seen Junkrat work once and that was because we had a Lucio and Orisa.

  13. A Junkrat worked once for me also, but we were playing on normal and I was Orisa, so yeah.

  14. Jumping back in for the first time since the holidays for the lore event.

Orisa is fun as hell for arcade.

I hope they patch in pre-Reaper voice for Blackwatch Reyes. Probably wouldn't make sense when the voicelines will be the same regardless of the skin used but whatever.

  15. So far I opened 26 boxes and I still don't have either Tracer's or Mercy's Uprising skins. I did get Torb's however.

The new mode is very enjoyable, especially with all of the new dialogue (Reyes's golden voice is a 10/10). I only ever played on normal mode.

  17. Made rank 101 last night. Still don't have any event skins other than Widow's. Getting really tired of grinding at this point but I'm not buying an event skin (only got enough gold for one legendary) until the end for obvious reasons.

But now I'm torn between Mercy and Orisa's alt skins. Both look amazing.

  18. anyone tried the hardest mode?
I did and won, but it's extremely limited. You can only use rein/mercy/bastion/orisa and have to stay in certain positions to win. It's not very gratifying
Symm is tricky to use but she works fine in hard mode, and she's a ton of fun
