I feel like Battleborn had potential, but of all times they could've chosen to release it they chose a week before Overwatch, before Blizzard torpedo'd all of their goodwill so people actually were hyped for it...
while blizzard were cunts as usual, gearbox being gearbox didn't help either. plus it's not like there wasn't a window where people were fucking sick of OW and were looking for alternatives, but by then magic randy and his merry band of retards had already decided to throw in the towel by mismanaging the game even harder than before. like there were around 5-8 queues for a global pc playerbase below 1000, with matches possibly taking up to 30 minutes; guess they really thought people like the game so much they want to look at a basic bitch console matchmaking screen with no information whatsoever. botmatches only got properly included over half a year later, before that point it was getting farmed (while staring at a loading screen inbetween) when trying to progress with chars that had a pvp requirement. oh, and no backfilling, because lulz.
seriously, the amount of boneheaded incompetence could fill pages. besides that it was a very solid game - almost all chars were viable, it leaned more towards fps moba than trying to be a shitty brink clone with waifus, and even the pve stuff was fun enough to grind (and being it's own thing, not some shitty horde mode with bots) and fleshing out the chars (which I assume blizzard is gonna rip off the hardest). even the most common complaint MUH VISUALS was always retarded when you look at the average ow fight.
It wouldn't be the first time 2K squandered a new IP with potential. Remember Evolve?
What both of them have in common: they're online only.
to be fair, turtle rock was invested enough to work out a deal with them and tried to fix it, that's more than gearbox has ever done.
I don't fault Turtle Rock. I blame 2K for ruining a studio with potential. I wish they would be able to do Left 4 Dead 3 or another similar game like Evolve.
rumor is 2k spend a million on the ip once THQ went bust, it was probably trying to get some of that money back (but considering 2k are money whores they don't need a reason, they and gearbox are a perfect fit). TRS own PR talking about DLC long before the game came out didn't help either.

i used to main Rienheart and Orisa so it would not change much for me but, playing as say zarya or sigma is gonna be a pain if you the only "tank" on the filed.
its the DIVA, Winstone and Roadhogg players that got fucked the most. enjoy getting reported for not playing an actual tank. the off healers are screwed as well since brigett and lucio cant heal on their own and cant deal the amount of dps to justify having them around.
overwatch two is gonna be stale in less of a month. no one is actually gonna play the pve mode.

they'll gate it with progression and a measly amount of crate currency and stupid casuals will farm it like crazy.
IMO, D.Va is the only viable tank because of her DPM and shield ability.

Actually please do fault Turtle Rock everything you love about L4D1+2 was done but Valve help. Did you know Turtle Rock Devs wanted to do paid map packs monthly for left4dead 2 as a way to "continually release content" and valve told them to fuck off. 2K was the perfect place for these kind of assholes.

Don't worry, Zarya is getting 2 of each barrier so you can block 4 hits instead of 2! Winston is probably going to be fine for dive comps (if that's still going to be a thing lol) but poor Roadhog will probably end up being some weird hybrid DPS. I just hope they don't fuck up his hook even more than they already have.
relabeled as valve south for l4d1, then brought inhouse for 2 because the portal dev wanted to work on it. the closest involvement in 2 were some devs that moved over to valve.
