$ (OXEN)/(LOKI) Lokinet's currency -

Oxen is a rebrand of Loki, which was the currency set up to support Lokinet. Lokinet was a project started in IRC by 8chan user alumni and that's why I know about it.

The goal of Lokinet is to create a Tor-style onion routing network with nodes incentivized for supporting the network. So Tor can be broken by feds by attacking all service nodes on Tor except fed compromised nodes, Lokinet would be supported by masternodes paid to support the network through regular masternode payouts.

Session <https://getsession.org/> is an example an IM service built on top of Oxen.

Things I like about Oxen:
Mandatory zero-proof knowledge (i.e. Monero)
There's a lot of coins that have optional privacy but that's bullshit. Monero does it right. The problem with Monero/Oxen style mandatory privacy is that fewer places support it due to KYC constraints. As of writing, only Bittrex and KuCoin have Oxen listed.

Masternodes (100% Proof-of-Stake over Proof-of-Work)
I strongly believe that only Bitcoin and maybe Ethereum will last long-term using proof-of-work. The market hates crypto miners and there's simply not enough GPU to go around for every shitcoin to have currency mining. Proof-of-stake is objectively a better system for smaller ecosystems.

Lokinet
Lokinet is an onion routing system like Tor. Tor is super pozzed and there's fears of it being compromised in the future. Lokinet is built from the ground up and unlike Tor incentivizes fortifying it financially through service nodes.

There's options for baking in the future. In my head, I would like for the crypto to work like this:
"We run these Oxen nodes, you can access the site over lokinet, and if you want to help support the site financially with zero commitment, you can buy OXEN for your own HODL and then bake with us on this masternode".

Basically, I've learned over the years to look at currencies which directly benefit the Kiwi Farms and support those. It worked with BAT.

What has always bugged me about Tor is that if you run a node, you not only provide bandwidth but also risk getting your door kicked in by the cops while you get nothing in return. I've known about Lokinet (and Session) since years but lost interest although it's one of the few cryptocurrency projects that has true utility. Thanks for the info, Null. It would be a cool thing if this is going to be another source of income for the Farms. What a shame that I haven't bought when it was crabbing at a lower price one and a half years ago.

EDIT: corrected my fucked up grammar a bit

Like a true normie, I took interest in crypto earlier this year after GamestopGate. I've made ~1k USD off it over the last 2 months or so. I've been looking heavily into node-based payment crypto currencies that are based on staking within zero trust ecosystems. These are really promising payment systems, so if KF could get into one or more of these networks, I would definitely consider using some of my crypto profits to support the site in the future. Hell, even cash if a good privacy focused network wasn't pozzed or run by troons.

I don't believe that any zero-proof staking cryptocurrency with communal baking exists just yet. Oxen has group staking, but that requires collaboration when setting up the node. i.e. you have 5 people with 3000 OXEN each, they can set up a node that ordinarily costs requires 15,000 OXEN by itself.

What I want is that perfect blend of zero-proof + staking + pooling. Users should be able to get their hands on whatever amount of currency they can, hitch to the community pool without me having to do anything, keep 90% of the money and pay the rest to support the fanzone.

If the OXEN guys get that group baking in I'll shill it hard.

I like how when I said that, everyone just rated me autistic. And by "like" I mean dislike. Sounds pretty cool though, you going to integrate it into the site?

TradeOgre has a BTC-OXEN pair for those interested, TradeOgre does not implement KYC measures, unlike KuCoin and Bittrex
I like TradeOgre (do they sell merchandise?) but the trading volume there is utter shit. You can't buy even a hundred bucks worth of OXEN every week without moving the price against yourself. For me personally it's still the best way for buying, though, because I find KYC processes very tiresome. What are your thoughts on putting your money into wOXEN which is OXEN wrapped as ERC-20 token? Is it a viable option for buying actual OXEN? Also, wtf is Chainflip? There's going to be an airdrop of that token for OXEN stakers who register themselves until April 1st.

You're right about TradeOgre's low volume issues. Looking deeper into it, turns out KuCoin allows for unverified use of its platform with a 5BTC/day limit, which is failry generous. I ended up using KuCoin to buy $OXEN.

I'm still too ignorant about ChainFlip to have a say, but you can find info regarding it and wOXEN here and here.

Has Null gotten enough oxen yet to grab the kiwifarms domain on ONS? (Oxen Name Service)

I just want to say that I wouldn't trust a crypto currency named after a god of tricksters that Kickstarted the apocalypse.
Well, as far as it's application goes for it's onion router, it makes life on the dankweb easier. blockchain backed DNS A Records (SRV records on the target address for subdomains), for sites that don't need total anonymity.

Solves the issue of needing a text file filled with long hashed addresses, and is arguably a better solution than I2P's implimentation of an internal directory that could technically be compromised, given it's default behavior is to contact one particular site in the network.
