This is a peculiar thread for me to make because I was not an avid Deagle Nation fan and never watched any streams, except of course the final one in February. But as an autistic savant with an eidetic memory for lolcow habbenings I happened to remember the date and no one else seems like they're going to do it. The revelation of ruse and ensuing fallout was fascinating to me, separate from Jace himself.

On February 17, 2015, user @FP1 found an MDE video with a guy who looked and sounded an awful lot like Jace.

On the 21st a new member signed up to make an account and share his thoughts—@Pickleman! He presented his hypothesis that Jace and the guy from MDE were in fact the same person.

This of course came up to a lot of scrutiny. Many people didn't believe him.

I would even say that most people didn't believe him.

The name of "the MDE" guy was revealed to be Jan Rankowski. Jan Rankowski was implicated in a playground incident as a child wherein he was made to leave the playground for being such a massive autist. This put a kink in the Jan-being-Jace theory for some people.

Circumstantial evidence did not convince the masses. The final nail in the coffin was another lurker, @hullo8d, pitching in to provide a comparison of Jace's Steam login name and Jan Rankowski's website.

Everyone else proceeded to eat their words.

Joshua Moon officially proclaimed Jace Connors (as we knew him) dead on February 22, 2015.

At first I thought this would be inappropriately personal, but a retrospective on our reactions following the revelations might actually be interesting.

February 22, 2015 was a bizarre night for me. I was in extreme denial. Terrible denial. I just felt numb and detached from the exploding subforum, like it was all a dream. I truly thought it was just a whacked-out conspiracy for the entire night. The next morning, it finally started to sink in. Denial started to crumble away, unleashing a wave of grief. It felt like learning someone had died.

I went to class on Monday morning in a robotic state, unfeeling, unable to comprehend anything other than the idea that an entire world was fake. Even as acceptance sank in, it was all I could think or talk about. I told my classmates. I told my professor, who seemed really confused by the premise of such a hoax but was pretty certain it was for money. I know I cried at some point on Monday or Tuesday. Those two days went by in a fog. I really appreciated the final livestream on Wednesday the 25th. I streamed it on my phone as I drove (even in a car wash) to avoid missing anything. I distinctly remember arriving on campus and standing in a particular part of a building with my laptop and headphones, trying to catch everything on a larger screen. Seeing the people behind the madness helped with "healing," if you can call it that.

The best/worst/funniest part: On the 21st, I had introduced my neighbor to Jace and adamantly insisted that the videos were really products of a disturbed mind. That was awkward to explain a few days later...

EDIT (because this post isn't long enough already): Deagle Nation taught me that absolutely anyone can be fooled. No matter how smart or sharp-eyed or knowledgeable or aware you are, someone somewhere can make something you'll fall for. I used to think I was more or less immune from gullibility and am now much more careful about believing new information. Everyone needs to learn that they, too, are susceptible to some falsehood and not let their egos blind them to reality.

For me it was one of those things I bought into even because everyone else did. Of course in the end it was heavily orchestrated.

Since Jans reveal I thin a lot are now cautious about new lolcows being fake and the hole DN left was hastily filled with bad decisions.

It was a ride.

Weirdly enough, I actually really enjoyed the reveal. It was a masterful piece of work on Jan's part, and had been executed perfectly - it's not often that someone puts in so much work and gets it so right, too. The whole thing was beautifully played, and watching the farms' collective heads spinning was entertaining, to say the least.

I never fully followed Deagle Nation (even if I was on chat during the race war van time when we were all tuning into police scanners, and that includes me, and even if I cared about Eli's travails in Israel) but I had a sad reaction to the news. I made sure to tune into the final livestream, at least a little, because I knew that if I didn't I would forever regret that.

When I first joined the farms I had no idea what Deagle Nation was. It didn't take me long to find out though. I was skeptical at times as to its authenticity, but I've known people as delusional as Jace and I thought to myself that the whole thing about Tyce with skeletons was a more autistic version of the reptilian aliens theory.

I could appreciate it in any event. Gradually though I quit caring if it was real or not, it was better than any other phenomena on the internet. And then that day came where I checked the website and found it was hacked by Tyce. I informed chat and the site exploded with log ins. I loved that, people were trying to get more and more info. I was more or less convinced it was real. Then the nail in the coffin for thinking it might even be a little bit staged came with the video of the crash. I have probably shown that video to no less than 30 people (even after the reveal). That video probably made me laugh harder than anything I've ever seen in my life. And after the Reuben interview, I came to actually like Jace, in more than an ironic kind of way. He was a weirdo sure, but I really enjoyed his videos and his antics. Deagle Nation was great, even if it was a living episode of Trailer Park Boys.

And then came the reveal. I stayed out of it, I was kind of shocked. I loved the Final Stream, watched it live after work (missed maybe the first 30 minutes but still). And then it was over. I wanted it to continue but part of me knew it probably wouldn't or couldn't. That being said, I enjoyed ever second of it. Very amazing. I hope Jan does more comedy work in the future. Semper Fi Jace.

Since this seems to be kind of a personal thread, I wanted to add a few more thoughts.

For the past year I've been watching the old livestreams, 15-20 minutes at a time. I actually think they're funnier now knowing that Jan is in on the joke; that the gay double entendres Jace would come out with were intentional, and so on. I understand how it wouldn't be the same for the performers, but I still wish it could continue.

And every so often I think: One day this will probably all be gone. Jan wants to move on and closes his Youtube account, the War Library goes down, and that's everything. I'm left trying to describe to people how Jace drank Juggalo vomit from a Mountain Dew bottle for two hours and it was the funniest thing I ever saw.

In the months leading up to the reveal I'd wondered about the authenticity of the parkourdude91 sideshow. Eli in particular was just too good to be true, and almost tipped it for me. But it didn't matter because it was just so entertaining.

February 22: I had somewhere to be, but checked Kiwi Farms first thing in the morning for the latest developments in Wupocalypse, to find "Skyfall" playing and the announcement. It was a long day taking it in. Even after I knew on a macro level that it wasn't real, it took weeks for all the micro realisations like "Oh yeah, his mom never really thought that 'Mexican' was a political party." I don't think the whole thing fully sank in for me until the Breaking Bad trailer for the final livestream.

If CWC turned out not to be real, I think we'd all be glad somebody hadn't really fucked up their life to that extent. If ADF turned out not to be real, we'd be glad somebody like that didn't really exist. But we wanted Jace to be real. He was the lolcow who was actually really charming and fun to spend time with. The world was a more exciting place seen through his lazy eye. We wanted to be a part of Deagle Nation, in a way that still allowed for laughing at their antics. I actually drank Monster for the first time because of Jace. Parkourdude91 and Deagle Nation was just the single best thing I've ever witnessed.

i can safely say that deagle nation was probably some of the most fun i've had on the internet. the interactivity and overall absurdity of the adventures jan sent jace and us through will never be forgotten and are not replaceable. on top of that, it turns out jace and tyce's actors are actually cool people.

on the flip side, we now have people that are still not over the reveal and continue to find "the next jace" (ex: strikerwolf and fedsmoker [even though fedsmoker is completely fucking badass and is literally a 40-50yr old jace if jack stryker assumed complete control and was real]) and now we have these hordes of retards pestering autistic people on the internet trying to dress them up in the clothes of their dead cow trying to fruitlessly relive memories of the past which are forever dead and will never come back also its not alive

all in all it was cool and i was glad to be a part of it and i wish jan and rob the best of luck in college or whatever they may be doing these days i dont know i never kept up with them they like left without a trace just like that maybe it was all fake and dEAGLE DAD WAS BEHIND IT ALL

I really tried to enjoy you at first Jace, but every single word you said carried the Anger emotion.

And you just refused to make true ammends with Tyce, the Beavis to your Butthead. Instead, you just pimped out this retarded idiot with an equally retarded name.

What I loved about ParkourDude91 is that despite being a cheeto-cugging puking schizo, he was likable and interesting.

He had me at the beginning, I'll admit. Someone as talented as Jan should be in Hollywood, making seven figures, not humoring us. And he got me watching Million Dollar Extreme, and what did I find watching that channel...

That vid is dated Dec 23, 2011. IT WAS RIGHT IN FRONT OF US THE WHOLE FUCKING TIME!!!

It's the sign of great character building when the character is likable despite having negative traits. In fact, Jace was almost entirely composed of negative traits, and was even directly mocking and parodying his own audience. That's a kind of skill I usually associate with people like Mike Judge who, for instance, made a show about two moronic edgelord teenagers and then sold it to moronic edgelord teenagers, and another show about kind of dumb rednecks that kind of dumb rednecks also loved.

Anyone can mock some kind of goofy subset of the population, but doing it with fairness and sympathy is another thing entirely.

Imagine a Chris video in which he's clean, well-dressed, and relaxed. He's in a modest, tidy apartment, and he's fondly reminiscing about all the crazy times he had with the trolls. He admits that Sonichu was probably a bad idea, sincerely apologizes to everyone he's wronged, and then brings out Marvin for a behind-the-scenes Q&A.

Now, that will never happen. But everyone who watched the final Deagle Nation livestream has an idea of how it would feel.

I'm rewatching TUPACALYPSE EXPOSED: THE WHISTLEBLOWN BROADCAST!!! at the moment. It's still eerie how much Jace being crazy reminds me of crazy people I've known.

This is like if Chris just immediately disappeared after the Rollin and Trollin video and was never heard from again.
