Everybody knows somebody like this (even if it's you yourself). People who are always late. For work, for family/friend events, for movies. People that are otherwise great people, but can't seem to show up on time.

Are they really absent minded when it comes to time, or do they simply think that their time is more valuable than the time of the people around them? Does it show a lack of proper time management (how long it takes to get ready/drive somewhere), or a lack of respect for the needs of others?

What do you think?

Being consistently late to things is the best way to build a reputation as a lazy faggot.
There are few things more annoying then arranging something, splitting time management perfectly, and then it all going tits up because some prick decided that everyone else had to wait for them. Especially with something work related.

Depends on how late you are. If you're like, four or five minutes late to something, it's not ideal but certainly not as bad as getting in an hour after your meeting or class starts. Sometimes your logistics aren't perfect and you might get caught in traffic, whether you want to or not.

It depends on the person.

ADHD comes with a lack of understanding/ability to measure amount of time passed. That is, if we don't just straight up forget it. I've learned to cope with lots of alarms, though.

Sometimes, though, it can represent a lack of respect. The person doesn't respect your time, etc. Like if they're only late to certain events.

Just some thoughts.

I have the ADHD too, so I know what you mean. I'm sure it can depend on the situation, but I think people who a chronically late for things are definitely lacking in respect. Even if they act like (and even if they really are) sorry for being late, the fact that it happens repeatedly can be a pretty clear indication that they really don't give a shit.

I am that guy  I'd like to defend myself and my honor, but I'm a lazy faggot and I'll admit it. Sometimes it just comes up in my head "Oh, stay home for a couple more minutes! You totally won't be late!". You can guess how well that goes each time.

Being late a lot can happen esp in some life styles, but when it's constant and or not warned, it's flat out disrespect. I'm often late due to my job but there is 0 excuse to not send a text etc.

If you have an issue like a job or little kids and being late is something that can happen, first you inform people this issue second you keep them in the loop. People know what's up and have shown me nothing but respect and tolerance for it.

When you are strolling 5 minutes in after daily because you don't get scolded, you are disrespectful. When I am not hampered I'm early as I get a bit nervous about missing stuff and hate the feeling even when I've done all I can to prevent it.

Motivation is a big factor and I'm glad it's mentioned, I know sometimes if I am going out for a pint with a buddy they don't mind being 5 late, I don't either maybe you just want to quick iron your shirt and it's not a massive ordeal or long time no one cares. If it's a movie, movie starts at X time, they can make it on time. These are just social things not even cash based rewards where there's a lot more reason to be on time.

I find chronic lateness is one of the easiest ones to get a free pass on and the fact people don't bother to do this really irks me.
