After pumping up the excitement for her new role as a Pepsi spokesperson, the model unveiled her debut ad on Tuesday and quickly became the target of backlash, as did the soda company.

In the ad, Jenner is seen participating in a photo shoot and becomes distracted by a group of protesters. She decides to join them, and toward the end, comes face-to-face with a stoic police officer. She offers him a Pepsi and he accepts the drink before cracking a smile.

The ad was quickly accused of appropriating the Black Lives Matter movement and using social justice to sell soda.

The imagery was also thought by some to be far too similar to photos of Ieshia Evans, a protester who was detained by law enforcement while protesting in Baton Rouge following the shooting death of Alton Sterling at the hands of police.

Is the protest in the ad actually shown to be BLM? Is it even strongly implied? Lots of stuff gets protested, really stupid stuff too. But then, SJWs would know that.
no, it's a generic 'fite da powa' protest with trendy millennials and (of course) a Muslim in hijab. But on Tumblr there is only one issue, BLM, and everything is racist and all police are KKK. And it only bares the slightest resemblance to Iesha Evans, which in itself was a transparent attempt to create an Iconic Image (tm)

It wouldn't be a day ending in Y without blacks finding something to bitch about. Instead of building themselves up they just expand their witchhunt for injustice and blame others.

Black people invented rioting back in Africa before whitey stole it, themselves, their house, and their ice cream sundaes. I read about it on social media.

Lol, funny how things have been turned on their head. Not so long ago, Pepsi was the darling of the Arab world and primo-beverage of pro-Palestinian sympathizers, since Coca-Cola refused to bow down to Arab pressure and stop selling to Israel during the Oil Embargo days like their competitors.

Even after having this explained to me, I remain uncertain what the anger is over? How is anything even be stretched? This seems odd? If you're mad over this, why not anything else? And I know they are mad over everything else- but I mean, literally why not the color blue or Mount Olympus? I am honestly unsure how this is more provoking than just putting a can of Pepsi on the screen with the words "Just drink this" under it. Like did they just pick this commercial at random?
