There was an interesting essay about Invaders Must Die’s creative process on the band’s website when the album came out. Liam had three rules for the album:

Since nobody in their right mind would ever say no to that offer, the album was put on hold. The day after the call, UPS delivered a package to Liam Howlett that had a note, a license release form and a 2TB hard drive full of loops.
Liam wrote three new songs for the album,and the song on the album with the drum track that sounds the LEAST like it was played by a human is Pirhana, and the drum track for it is untouched, not sped up or manipulated in any way, it’s just Dave Grohl going apeshit on a drum kit.
