Necroing the fuck out of this bitch.

Open beta on Xbox One starts tomorrow. Progress will carry over, so it's more of a soft launch. PC soon™.

Anyone planning on playing?

Don't play the NA server. SEGA has a terrible history with NA launches, I would play the translated JP version unless you want to be abandoned.

Sega definitely does, but Microsoft's backing this. I strongly expect that there's contracts involved to keep Sega from just yanking the plug on the servers in six months after they got a big sack of Microsoft cash to bring it here.

JFC I was planning on playing PSO2 when it was announced for the Vita, before the Vita even launched.

What the fuck took them so long to bring it overseas?

Do not question the glorious nippon. But yeah i’ve been waiting on this game since it’s announcement. It’s even the reason I bought a PS4 a couple years ago only to get fucking cucked by Xbox. Now I don’t see the point of buying an Xbox one because the new console is out this year.

Waiting for it to come out on Windows/Steam when it does, since I don't have an Xbone.

I doubt that they'll pack up PSO2 too soon. If anything FFXI has been getting new content and has been going on since 2002, while not major expacs I don't think PSO2 has to worry about that as long as they add in new bosses/events. Which thankfully the NA version is going to be going through the majority of them.

I give the game at min about 5 years (with big support ending by year 2) and when Sega announces the next one (Most likely designed for the PS4 since they're usually a gen behind) that we'll see it come here much faster then 2 took.

I started playing recently, due to it's steam release, and it's a blast.

also apparently they're making something called Phantasy Star Online 2: New Genesis, and it should come out next year (2021), with an upgraded engine. they will even change the PSO2's engine to make it more similar to the new one.
Although I'm not sold on PSO2 going open world, to be honest. It usually ends up badly, even if they do something like Trove did, where the dungeon are somewhat randomized.

I still haven’t been able to play the bloody thing. It’s on PS4, Vita, Switch and PC in Japan yet if you wanna play it outside the US on Xbox you need steam. If the are waiting for the next gen console release to bring it out in Europe on Xbox and PlayStation it would be nice if they would just say it.
As much as I would love to play it on a desktop it’s not even Mac compatible.

You can also download the JP version of the game with the English translation through the PSO2 Tweaker you can download from the ARKs Layers website.

It has way more content than the current NA version and a new successor class is about to makes its debut this September.

That's amazing to know. Although I wish I knew it earlier, because I finally got the summoner to level 80 and now I'm kind of hating the Techter and Force. And also I have to grind like a nigger this saturday to finally get that damn Rappy egg and finally have all pets.

I know, that really sucks. For an 8 years old game, they're really slow at porting it in EU/NA

I wanted to ask how it plays, because I'm used to old Dreamcasts PSO gameplay. Anyone with experience give me the heads up on how things changed?

I know that i used to play both the JP and NA versions, but stopped primarily due to the fact i was uncomfortable with it making me wanna spend my money on stuff that isn't even physical. The story was pretty cool though, I guess. Mostly only liked the first 3 'episodes' because the focus was on the dark falz mostly.

Oh boy, where to start.
- The gameplay is a lot more fast paced compared to PSO.
- You have the option to switch to any Main/Sub class in the game.
- You can jump.
- The gameplay is different depending on which class you're playing. Some are pretty clunky to control, some are pretty standard, and some are pretty flexible.
- The 2 classes, Braver and Bouncer (currently in the NA version) are the most versatile classes and great for beginners. Helps that both these classes also have a PA that not only closes in on enemies, but are also good for traveling long distances.
- There are 3 attack types:
*Strike (Melee in NA) - Your standard close range, physical attacks.
*Range - Your far range gun attacks.
*Tech - This game's version of magic.
- A lot more options for Character customization.
_ Your race will slightly affect your stats.
- etc.

There's quite a lot to the game that it can be pretty daunting, but through time you'll familiar yourself with the ins and outs of the game.

Currently playing a bouncer, I am a bit overwhelmed and don't really know where to allocate my skills.
I recommend using the PSO2 skill simulator. It'll help you plan where you would like to allocate your skill points to your main/sub class. Be sure to filter the options by "PSO2 NA" if you're playing the NA version.

Also, there's an Affixing Simulator that you can use to plan your affixes. Just click on "Add Panel" to create a synthesis panel.
