Do not refer to my social security disability as 'Autism Bux' , it is ableist and its rather an inaccurate characterization on what grounds I got my disability on. And it also shows one ignorance of how Social Security actually works and furthermore, paints the whole getting on disability as an easy process. Which it is not a easy process to get disability.
If I were getting Social Security Disability for just Autism Spectrum Disorder - a few things:
1) I would have had Social Security payments before age 22 because the diagnosis for ASD was in existence since 1988 , I only started getting disability only this year after a two year waiting period and struggling with SSA to cough up the money.
Christian Weston Chandler never had to go to court for disability, because disability was established prior to age 22. I, Ahuviya Araujo Nieves - had to go to court for disability for:
PTSD, Anxiety, Dissociative Identity Disorder, and Depression.
Dissociative Identity Disorder inhibits my ability to drive a motor vehicle and machinery. Two things that are involved in employment
PTSD, Anxiety, and Depression are from:
Violence and abuse I face - from childhood to Trans woman status
Multiple Sexual Assault Traumas
Past and present cyberbullying/cyberstalking
2) I actually had a work history with having an ASD - For over 8 years, I worked and paid my OASDI (Old Age Security and Disability Insurance) PAYROLL TAXES.
I repeat - I PAID PAYROLL TAXES.
Eight years.
I worked. I paid into Social Security. I deserve these benefits.
3) Also, lastly - as a resident of California - I do not receive SNAP Benefits - as the State of California issues out a paltry $200 State Supplemental Payment in addition to the Federal SSD I receive monthly. So stop perpetuating the "Welfare Queen" myth Ronald Reagan pull out his ass when he was President.
