I've certainly seen Brits using words like y'all and folks(x) on woke twitter; can't say that they try to use it in real life. But I have heard Americans use bloody and it is cringe every single time. Never heard it from a Canadian, but I'd probably still roll my eyes at it if I did.
Jordan Peterson says bloody a lot. It's pretty funny.

Seems like he's following through with this idea. I don't know where he'll take it, but it sounds like part of his next video will be focused on how individualism and social isolation perpetuates shit like teens on Tumblr identifying as "cloud-gender" and using "it/itself" pronouns. The first source on that list is this video, which seems to be a critique of how micro-identities like "star-gender" or "frog-gender" would never get taken seriously outside of super-woke and super-online spaces. As if that isn't already incredibly obvious to anyone outside of those spaces.

To be fair, he mentioned during his livestream that he despised doing comedy. Oddly enough the only time I've found him likeable was when I was watching his comedy routine (the second one, I haven't gotten around to watching the first). Probably because, as others mentioned, he was ripping off someone else's work.

Full context:
He said that during his second year of University he sat down and tried to figure out what he wanted to do with his life. What he did was he asked himself how he would feel if he could never do a certain thing again. He said it would suck if he couldn't study Philosophy anymore, but it wouldn't devastate him. He would be quite happy to never do comedy again because he hated it. But he would be devastated if he could never act again, so he decided to 'become an actress'.

He said he also applied this to his 'gender', sitting down and asking himself: 'how would I feel if someone said I could never transition'? He said he would be gutted, and that's what motivated him to transition. It's been a while since I watched Contra's video on his decision to troon out but iirc that's similar to what Contra said about his decision to transition, where he asked himself how he would feel if he didn't transition and instead aged like a man.

so strange.
why on earth would you get up on stage and do a standup routine if you didnt like it. its the self importance thing, i suppose.

I thought contras point mae quite a bit of sense to be fair; as someone who'd been slim with long hair and baby faced it would hvabe been quite easy to feel androgynous, and just skate by on that, but then freak out when the mens aging signs creep in - coarser skin, balding, hairline, fat distribution, all that.

I will say again, I've got no beef with contra at all, i think the videos are genuinely funny and made by someone with a good sense of humour.
I also thought the red-lining /baltimore/racism video (deleted when all the pre transition stuff went) was a very useful piece of work.
I just fucking hate the 'pHiLosOphY TuBe' show and how its all about its very boring creator- who clearly has freaked out that its not okay to be this narcissitsic as a rich white hetero male and has set about changing that.

Has y'all made it across the pond? I hear it used by fools around me so often and online that I instinctively cringe every time I read it. 9/10 it's some middle class commie trying to sound like some aw shucks salt of the earth type. I have a lot of Canadian friends that say bloody but it doesn't bug me nearly as much.
Y'all is exclusively used by cringe sjw cunts when they deign to give some proclamation a little more ghetto weight.
same fuckers who if they were scottish or from the north, would never dare say 'yous' which is actually what we say.
thankfully, its mostly been nipped in the bud, by a flurry of awareness about how painful is it in comment sections.

Jordan peterson saying bloody...I find it a bit weird but i give it a pass as i dont know how canadians speak generally.

Ollie is honestly doing a fantastic job of skinwalking Hontra here. A YT "career" of mediocre philosophy video essays, then publicly troon out, and then everything after that is a roundabout way to justify to others why you are actually a real woman disguised as worthwhile content. It mirrors perfectly. Ollie, you're a guy. You're male. It's that simple. It doesn't matter how much gender fuckery or queer theory you read about. No amount of Judith Butler and frilly knickers can save you from your sex.
I'm really hoping, BTW, that Ollie incorporates this into his new video by narrating some passages of Judith Butler talking about the unreality of biological sex over footage of him scuba diving in a bikini with an angle from behind of his bulge right in the viewer's face. I wouldn't put anything past this creeper. He'll probably pretend he didn't notice and act coy when his viewers point it out.

At least a part is going to be about troons in prison. "Out of compliance: Masculine-identified people in women's prison." So if it's just implicitly trans, then he will just spit out some social justice about categories bad.

Also, I've always thoughts his citation shows what a hack he is. They heavily rely on a few authors and so many of the sources are for some obscure facts. It reeks of the lazy researching I used to do. If you just look at this one just look at the share is about this one article. I think she'll get away with it because people don't read the list.

What a wonderful effort to re-frame his creepyness into "IT WAS DISPHORIA OKAY?".
Yes, he did say that in his last video.
The timestamp isn't exact, but this is that

Canadians in the eastern provinces say bloody but it’s mostly the older people and mainly in the Maritime provinces I’m not sure where Peterson is from though Ontario I think

He lives in Ontario now, but grew in Alberta. In my experience, it's not rare to meet older white Canadians who will drop British vernacular here and there. It seems like it was more common back then, you can even catch it when you watch an old cbc show like the Beachcombers.

Young grifters like Lauren Southern cringingly adopt it because it reflects "muh commonwealth," but it always feels out of place and forced when she does it. Peterson probably grew up using words like bloody, 'the dole,' sodding etc, whereas Southern is compelled to trad virtue signal in every aspect of her life.

The maritimes are so secluded from the rest of the country that its no wonder that they're so confused. I know you can hear a lot of the scots-irish influence in some parts, especially Newfoundland.

You'll It find large populations of British expats and their descendants in Ontario and BC. In Alberta, most live in Edmonton, but you are correct in that the people of the Prairies retain a lot of their European traditions. In addition to the Germans, the Poles and the Ukrainians also make up large communities there.

I wonder if Abighoul will try and sling his philosophy tube up here? He'd be popular with the big city urban crowd, seeing as he's both a bong and a troon.

the extreme TLDR is that George Packer agrees that 2014 (the year Gamergate happened) was the year that everything changed. Which he attributes to a combination of the new youth of Smart America (out of touch collage grads from privileged families) having far less opportunity for employment, housing, income, etc creating a disillusioned generation. That was effectively turned into an anti-american group because of the other perceived injustices that America dolled out to them and the world. In the form of all the videos of cops killing black people and America's forever wars. This was in addition to Gen X run education teaching Critical Theory which questions and encourages the foundations of modern society to Millennials and onward.

I think you hit the nail on the head on that one. I grew up extremely online and come from the dubiously privileged perspective of having dabbled a lot in proto woke Tumblr as it became a hub for hobbyists and refugees of livejournal, fanfiction dot net and DA as well as spending most time on imageboards and forums. In 2010 I think the predominant culture online was dominated by this atheist, left leaning waves of teenagers and young adults fresh off the Bush administration. It was the boomerang coming back from a repressed youth of extremely conservative parents, bible belt kids who didn't fit in and looked at their college professors with starry eyes enthusiastically swallowing every piece of postmodern philosophy and campus activism.

Then the ball started rolling on Tumblr, feminist slogans started gathering thousands of notes. I now attribute it to those teenagers who were essentially fangirls or fandom nerds going off to college and coming back to their blogs to talk about their "illuminating" lectures. Younger people at the time saw them as authorities, big sisters, mentors. I think everyone who has been on Tumblr can attest to the small cults of personality formed around particular users who are often massive lolcows. This is the other side of GG, it wasn't that big on Tumblr (because gaming wasn't that popular with teenage girls) but I think it was big enough in general to impact the "nerdosphere" of the time. If you ever wondered about who unironically read the no-name journos or supported Zoe Quinn, I think it was these Tumblr young girls, teenagers and even kids who at this point had formed a strong sense of identity around social justice and were adjacent to fandom culture, nerd culture, comic culture etc, although maybe not gamers.

Around 2015 I ended up at a psychiatric institution. This ward held around 40 female teenagers and young women at the time. Out of them, about a third were what I would classify as classic mental patients, the others where a collection of very distinct middle class and higher girls, normal-ish childhoods, lots of them had bright dyed hair which stood out because it was still uncommon to me. We were not supposed to trade contact information, however when asked about how we could stay in touch, a remarkable number didn't have other social media besides a Tumblr account and a phone number. I recognized the online terms, the 'viral' self harm techniques like sewing onto your skin, carving shapes and wrist slitting, the anachan #thinspo girls, the confusion about gender and several who were thinking about trooning out... it was eye opening in a strange way.

I meant to keep in touch with several of these psych ward girls but as my life took off again I definitely distanced myself from this environment, then peaktransed as the ROGD debacle happened.
