Abstract.
This thread is about a narcissistic ne'er-do-well grifter and speculated rapist so transfixed on an E-Celeb that they copy their every detail -- going as far as to medically transition into an MtF. Abigail Thorn's (born Oliver Lennard) obsessive fixation with (and mimicry of) Contrapoints, militant LGBTQ+ LARPing, and Breadtube drama are what bear out this grizzly work's existence. These shall be explored throughout Thorny's thread, which is organised into three chronological parts: 1.) Pre-MtF. 2.) Post-MtF. 3.) Conclusions. It must be stressed that this work will not concern itself with politics in general or LGBTQ+ in particular, but rather explores a persona who is significantly invested in these affairs with ubiquity, noxiousness and bad faith. Moreover, this is a light-hearted entry that doesn't take itself too seriously and rejects all pretence of speaking with authority. Reader discretion is advised.

1. Pre-MtF.


Early life.
Born on April 23, 1993 in Newscastle Upon Tyne (England, UK.) Oliver rested on the lap of privilege from the start, attending the luxurious Royal Grammar School (Newcastle), from which he then enrolled into the University of St. Andrews, completing a Masters of Arts (Scotland) and then a Masters of Arts in the University of Essex (East 15 Acting School.) His entry into Youtube is marked around this time period, joining that platform in 2013 (allegedly to help UK's philosophy students in the wake of 2012's increase in the tuition fees.) Olly's political outlooks were also shaped during his student days, engaging with famous organisations such as Mermaids and their ostensibly progressive ideals (see this group's thread here.) From 2013 to 2016 Oliver's presence on Youtube was largely insignificant -- his channel's fame coinciding with the rise of the Alt-Right's infamy, which he opposed. In a sense, his background as a Breadtuber & an E-Celeb is remarkably typical: A white male from a well-off family rides in to save the oppressed minorities against a fascistic enterprise (fictive or otherwise,) gaining fame and wealth while also claiming victimhood by identifying their self as part of a minority (in this case transsexuality.) Thorny's subscriber count passed the 100,000 threshold in 2017 -- obtaining Youtube's Silver Creator Award . This is where his descent into Internet Famous begins.

Becoming Famous.
The first thing you may ask about a popular Youtube content creator is 'what's so special about their content?' In the case of Thorn c.2017, it was a combination of producing theatrical videos, staunchly advocating for and against certain political views, and having that "special something." But what is Thorny's "special something"?

Contrapoints Cometh.


Thorny adores theatrics, lots and lots of theatrics that are uncannily similar to Contrapoints' own style. Their self-admitted collaboration with Contra undoubtedly influenced Thorny's own work, to the point where it blurs the line between "imitation as flattery" and being a copycat. Thorny doesn't appreciate being called the latter.


While the videos can cover different subjects, their presentations are very similar, as are the criticisms levied against them (e.g. engaging in bad faith. See Philosophy Tube, Contrapoints.) Regardless, collaborative works and their influence on your art are not really cow-worthy. What is cow-worthy are the unravellings of Thorny's and Contra's 'partnership,' which takes us straight to Thorny's post-MtF phase. This is where the lunacy begins.

2. Post-MtF.

On January 30, 2021 Thorn posted a video on Youtube announcing their transition titled Coming Out As Trans – A Little Public Statement. This coincided with them publishing a manifesto that changed my impression of Thorn forevermore.

The Manifesto.


Here is a quick dissection of Thorn's talking points.

• Self-patting as UK's most-famous trans person (calculatedly on the same day they publicly announce their transition.)
• Trans are older than Britain.
• The UK (which is among the most progressive LGBTQ+ countries) is making the lives of transsexuals a living hell.
• This "hell" manifests itself through the government's disallowance of trans persons from taking the necessary hormones by subjecting them to therapies so poorly resourced, they harm the trans persons' wellbeing (to the point of mass suicide mongering.)
• Trans persons ought to be identified as their chosen gender at every instance, from passport issuances to the birth certificates of their children.
• To that end, new legislations ought to be issued to enforce equal rights. This includes a more tolerable medical system a la informed consent. (The Self-ID spiel is more than likely mentioned over recent developments where trans' activists have failed to see it pass legislation in the UK.)
• Children should have access to puberty blockers; abortion being (somehow) more serious than transitioning and all that.
• Women who aren't part of the LGBTQ+ and an ethnic minority are privileged and therefore must be disparaged thrice times over.
• Misinformation against trans people is rife. Trans-lobbies and their campus cadres do not exist, but the existence of wide-spread anti-trans groups (in the UK?) is self-evidently true (even if conversion therapies receive a near-universal condemnation in the UK.)
• Everything said in the manifesto is absolute truth.

And here is a scathing rebuke by an unabashed TERF acquaintance.

This coming out statement is representative of how PT thinks and behaves. There's an intersection between his trademark narcissism and masked rage - instead of merely coming out, Oliver must write a political manifesto. "Rich white cis women" (the JK Rowling collective) are immediately mentioned disparagingly. Menopausal women "want" HRT, but PT and others like him "need" it, and transmen need their vanity titchops more than women with back issues need a reduction - notice the focus on women. The UK is painted as extremely hostile towards trans people in public life and healthcare, when in fact, it's one of the safest and most accepting places both socially and medically (legal protections, free medical transition for adults and very low violence rates). Oliver bizarrely appointing himself as the highest profile British transwoman, "the transgender princess of TERF island", needs this backdrop of a hostile environment so that he can also martyr himself in the process, despite being a white man with an upper class background. This coming out statement demonstrated both how angry he is at women generally, and also the extent of his narcissism, which he now has a plausible cover for.

Thorny's remarks over children's access to hormone therapy, among other things, is jarring and gives the impression that this person, who claims others aren't living in reality, are themselves not living in reality. I trust the readers' intelligence to come to their own conclusions, but it is important to note that the typical accusations levied against Thorn aren't without merit or borne out of simple malice, as this person of interest has demonstrated to enjoy controlling their self-image as well as influencing people's political outlook under the guise of theatrics. Their misogyny is also no mere straw-man, considering their past work (e.g. Cosmonaut 2.0 wherein they talk about how all theit misery (including yet another boisterous suicide mongering attempt) came exclusively from an unnamed woman they was in a relationship with, while exempting themselves from any liability for that supposed fallout.) Their rhetoric is also insatiable as they insinuate that any step to equality will serve to propel a more subtle discrimination against trans individuals. All in all, a very hot take.

The very earnestness of Thorny's transitioning can be questioned, considering that they himself hadn't ever experienced gender dysphoria.

If you're especially cynical this entire affair can be seen as an elaborate LARP. A grifter's gambit, made to attain more profit and recognition.

Anyway, while Thorny came out, one person was noticeably absent from applauding their stunning and brave deed.

Contrapoints Controversy.


Contrapoints had noticeably not congratulated Thorn at the moment of their transition, which had fuelled countless speculations over their relationship almost instantaneously. From mere obsession to speculation about them being Contra's rapist, these came in droves.




We'll now move on to analyse the merit of these speculations.

Are the claims unfounded, or are they on to something?
Philosophy Tube and Contrapoints having a falling-out is true. Contra seems unusually uncomfortable with talking about it. This would suggest that whatever transpired between them is more serious than a mere breakup.
Their past relationship is strongly hinted at to have been more than merely collaborative, which is demonstrated throughout their exchanges on each others' videos, as well as the more investigative posts on this very site (see the Breadtube thread and Contrapoints' thread mentioned above.)
The rift between these two has a lot of extraordinarily "well-timed" coincidences which, while inconclusive, raise a lot of questions as to what had caused the cessation of their relationship in the first place.
It's all a coincidence, cherry-picked (unreliable) information from 4chan, or a madman's spiel, as these two Breadtubers enjoy high privacy and haven't disclosed much of what goes on behind the scenes. Even the nature of their relationship was tight-lipped and largely left to gossip and speculation.
Ultimately, it is all rather speculative, yet the amount of coincidences and the timeline between the rift, Contra's discussion of being sexually assaulted, Thorny's own coming-out video and their evident obsession with Natalie at the time makes for a very juicy discussion. Which is what this thread is all about.

3. Conclusions.
Pundit, sophist, sociopath and a hack in more ways than one, Philosophy Tube epitomises the craft of grifting driven to its logical conclusion. Their entire shtick is preaching to the woken-token choir while curating an elaborately crafted internet persona that stays on at all times, from vids to streams. Like any true control freak, the thorn recurrently deletes or alters all tidbits of information that do not align with their ever-shifting narrative. Insincerity is Thorn's currency and trans rights are their bank. Regardless of as to whether the speculations about Thorny's deed against Contra are true, it is undeniable that Philosophy Tube stole the soul of their craft (I'm sure this is excused as artistic inspiration) to cement their own standing in Breadtube and the British media. Their obsession with Contra is just highly entertaining in general. The combination of Contra controversies, their mad tangents and very recent rise to prominence make this thread all the more warranted. As for its limitations, this is a somewhat rushed thread, with lots of content being taken out for convenience and time constraints. It's an overview, not an essay.
