There's a pirate outfit operating near me with Creole, Spanish, and English music. So far it's been just music except for Sunday night when some guy was talking in Creole for a while. Kinda unremarkable, but I want to mash some shit together to get a few airchecks of them recorded.

A while back there was a pirate station in town "Street Heat" and they'd advertise where the good dealers were and stuff. They would take calls on-air with some crazy homebrew shit where the listener had to listen through their radio to hear the host talk to them. They used phrases like "get these phones a-jiggalating!" and were concerned about "phone fuckery".

Anybody got any good pirate radio stories?

my friends and i would listen to these two guys who had this pirate talk show. idk how they even figured out how to get on air because they where pretty brain dead.... my all time favorite quote from this guy was " you know, its a shame they is all starving in Africa. you know if the were better off, them black folks would move on back and quit pestering us. " its word for word. they said other shit but it was never really funny, and kind of made me depressed. thinking that someones life revolves around seven/eleven pizza , softcore porn, and nascar. thats really all they talked about. and black people... no matter how the conversation started, it always ended up with "those black folks".

On the U-Twente shortwave SDR, listeners like this one pirate broadcasting from the Netherlands who would play weird Dutch folk music every hour of the day. There was another shortwave amateur broadcasting out of Ireland who gave shoutouts to the U-Twente chat, but he was often pre recorded and I don't think he was even a real pirate; I recall he might have had a license.
