Tons of ships are registered in Liberia to avoid higher taxes and bypass laws that most other states have. Same applies to countries like Singapore, Panama and the Marshall Islands. So they probably aren't from Liberia, the ship is merely flying the flag to dodge taxes and laws.In 2008 the Foreign Office told the Royal Navy to not capture pirates because they could then claim asylum in the UK under the Human Rights Act of 1998, depending on the punishment that awaits them if sent back to where they came from (and I'm not sure if that's Nigeria, where the ship set sail and I assume where the hijackers are from, or Liberia, where the ship is flagged and registered). If it's the former, they would almost certainly try to claim asylum.
(Hilariously, the Liberian Registry has a great anti-piracy program with extensive library, including a chapter on stowaways.)
So... someone gonna explain why the tanker had a metal gear in the cargo hold?
True, the owners are Greek.Tons of ships are registered in Liberia to avoid higher taxes and bypass laws that most other states have. They will now face the trauma of only getting a three bed Council house, not five, which is racist.
All over. All arrested, which is what they wanted. Expect them to be settled, rewarded, and copycat attempts to follow.
Looks like it was the SBS what got to them first, lads. Let me amend my previous post:
I want President Trump to begin issuing letters of marque.Privateering requires a letter of marque
Can you spare a few MIRVs for Brussels? Just airburst a couple over the EU parliament.Yeah, but let's talk about vaporizing Sweden later, we have to first address the tanker issue.
I mean, we have to figure out the exact accuracy somehow, so what could be better than to aim a barrage of MRVs on the EU Parliament at Brussels as a starter. Use that data to refine targeting data and trajectory prediction for the second barrage. Can you spare a few MIRVs for Brussels? Just airburst a couple over the EU parliament.
Nothing of value will be lost.
It's still there, and intentionally so. There are usually guns stored in the citadel in case the pirates find a way in or the crew makes the dicision to fight them off. There's international accords that are responsible for maritime law, and I doubt they ever changed the part that reads "Piracy is punishable by summary execution." That said, you don't even need to tell the SBS guys "Crew Expendable" since they're all in that panic room safe from the totally-not-hijackers. So much for Britannia ruling the waves. Enjoy being slaves.
We had our chance and decided not to make Happening immortal by electing Docta PaulI want President Trump to begin issuing letters of marque.
