Political containment for non Deep Thoughts/A&H threads -

Since I don't think we could honestly keep political spastics out of the Off-Topic boards that aren't Deep Thoughts and Articles and Happenings (for those of us who want to actually discuss topics without getting into the politics of things), would a political containment category for Off-Topic in general work? I'd love to discuss videogames without getting into some sped going on a one-man a-logging campaign because I don't agree with their gaming politics, for example, and I'm sure it might spread to other categories soon (as it has to a point in General).

What do you think?

The Gaming board's turned into a GamerGate containment board, man. It's your call, but I'd prefer spastics contain themselves if the recent wave is anything to consider. Neg stickers are fine, but when they chimp out and start posting straight up pseudo-truth websites in the most angry ways possible on your profile, that's not funny and borderline lolcow.

I think Games is the only off-topic board really suffering from this kind of injection of culture wars BS anyway. Nobody goes to food to bitch about hipsters driving up the price of avocados and funding mexican cartels.

As for the OP, i am not sure what you are driving it. A&H is an inherently political board, Null is right. Videogames can be discussed without the political aspect but not news. The real problem A&H has is civility but that's an entirely different can of worms.

A&H and Deep Thoughts are obvious. I'm more talking about Games, General Discussion and the types. I appreciate containing the KiA GamerGate speds to one thread but I don't think they'll take up with it. These types are ruthless. Up to you.

Multimedia too, but to a lesser degree, because at least there the political discussion is rooted to the source material.

The absence of divisive Anita-type autism figures is probably helping with that too.

It's likely coming everywhere though eventually. Seems like political tensions are getting worse the world over.

Multimedia has it pretty bad. Every other thread is just Kiwis sperging about diversity castings.

Games forum is fine IMO, I haven't seen any problems or arguing. Which threads are bad, show me the receipts!
