La Blanche Hermine, (The White Ermine) a song written in praise of the Breton royalists by Gilles Servat.

Spoiler: An explanation + lyrics

La Blanche Hermine was written by Gilles Servat, a Breton nationalist singer, who saw how the French republic oppressed the Breton language and Brittany and wrote it after being inspired by Irish rebel songs. It praises the Chouannerie, a counter-revolutionary uprising against the French Revolution, and calls for another uprising against the Republic and for Brittany.

The seagull and gorse are both traditional symbols of Brittany, while the white ermine was the traditional flag of the Duchy of Brittany. Fougères was a battle won by the royalists, while Clisson was a castle and town destroyed by the Colonnes Infernales during their genocide in Brittany and the Vendée. ”Franks” is a derogatory term used against the French.

Oktobersong is one of my favorite pieces of music from the DDR. I'm partial to this version because it's the only recording I've found that isn't just from a small ensemble with guitars.

This one dates back to the Algerian war when the Pieds-Noirs (Frenchmen in Algeria) were effectively forced out of their homeland by the Évian accords, which gave Algeria its independence. The term régimistes here is used to refer to Pieds-Noirs and more generally Frenchmen who supported De Gaulle.

What I like about it in particular is that although it was written by a Nazi, the strong anti-clerical and anti-nobility themes kept it in use in the official songbook of the East German military. Here is the melody of the song being played for about a minute during a Zapfenstreich.
