Someone on another thread recently re-posted that gem of a letter Chris sent to Mary Lee Walsh stating that he 'might consider raising her by 2 notches on his scale of respect' if she cancelled the meeting Chris was supposed to attend, and it made me realize for just how goddamn long Chris has been not only out of touch with reality, but fucking arrogant about it too. So got to wondering where he was more arrogant, then or now? Well, what do you all think?

It's all the same autistic arrogance to me. The "goddess" who wants people to pray to her sounds more extreme but really it's just the same thing filtered through the life-encompassing autistic RP Chris has been stuck in since the IG saga made his already-existing fantasies come even more to the fore. In a way the notches of respect is even more arrogant because it's not based totally in fantasy but actually believing that his "scale of respect" should matter to MLW or to anyone else in the real world.

Chris regarded himself as a guru in all matters, when he was an unemployed virgin whose worldly experience consisted of two anime conventions and a lot of time spent playing Animal Crossing alone. I reckon Chris's answers to the people (read: trolls) who wrote in to the Mailbag are the best documentation we have of his legendary arrogance. Chris treated every single mail (which, to his mind, were all genuine correspondence from fans) with contempt, acting as though replying to fans was a great inconvenience to him and then dispensing shitty advice that he himself rarely ever followed.

Oh he's always been just as arrogant. The only reason Chris has appeared to become more arrogant and out of touch as the years have gone by is because he outgrew or was abandoned by every institution, influence, and person that was keeping him in line as a direct result of his growing arrogance.

The teachers who's authoritative presence kept him in line in his school days waved him through because they didn't want to deal with him.

The gal pals that were paid to socialize with him all broke ties and moved on after graduation.

College eventually waved him through for the same reasons.

Every "girlfriend" he ever hooked up with him because he only cared about his own wants and needs

Bob's death removed the one parent from his life who actually made any effort to make sure his son could have a future.

The Game Place, TooManyGames, the gay bar he used to frequent (or whatever that was), and every other community he tried to join banned or shunned him away.

And Chris himself, the true architect of his own misfortunes and woes, still curses and harasses anyone who tries to motivate him to better himself.

The last remaining person who is holding him back is his mother who keeps him tethered to her through manipulation and guilt shaming. When she dies. . .well no matter what happens the only sure thing that can be said is that it will not be pretty.

I'd think OG Chris is the most arrogant, even if the current Chris acts like a big shot goddess, he knows it's make believe deep down and it's a show, not fully real arrogance (though of course he is still arrogant, just a little more fake now). OG Chris legit thought people like Miyamoto would line up to make Sonichu games, and that even if that did happen Chris would actually have any input other than signing away his rights. He also thought he could convince a major company to literally label Axe products with a "not for gay people" label, and that he deserved very attractive women, and that he was actually attractive himself.

Meanwhile when you look at how out of touch he is, modern Chris probably wins. He was always out of touch, but he's been getting worse.

Sure, he's always had an over-inflated view of himself: but back in the days when he could be arsed to make the comics was the time when, personally, I feel he was at his least arrogant. His pathetic little rewrites of real events and/or people into scenarios where he effortlessly beats up whole battalions of mall cops or deflowers his presumed girlfriend with a schlong the size of a human leg are such obvious, childish fantasies that they can almost seem endearing.

CPU Blue Heart Chris is a lot more arrogant. He's now determined to show us all how incredible and superior he is, with his hopeless attempts at showing off his psychic powers to anyone who'll watch, and as said it takes a special kind of self-importance to declare yourself a deity and demand that people pray to you. To say nothing of boasting how, as said goddess, you're the overseer of an event which will supposedly kill half of the people on the planet - but hey, it's for your own good, as my favourite cartoon nags are so much better than you plebs anyway.

While Chris has grown increasingly delusional post-Christine, he was always (in his Internet days) arrogant and out of touch. He honestly believed that his shitty mashup of two copyrighted mascot characters would gain him fame, millions of dollars, and have creative control of any merchandise or TV shows that followed always did show how out of touch with reality he really was. His poor relationships with everyone in his life (teachers, gal-pals, local businesses) only drove home that point.
