I have three answers to offer
1) People appreciate old cartoons in general for their inherent value in the history of animation and thus dislike it when attempts to "modernize" them are made since this is seen as utterly pointless at best (since comedy tastes have moved on so much since the time these cartoons were out that trying to refit them to modern times would change most everything thats endearing about them) and cheapening the brand at worst
2) People really fucking hate cheap ass early 2000s flash animation as a matter of principle
3) Latin america. Seriously those fuckers are as obsessed with old murican cartoons as they are modern jap cartoons
Honestly im seriously looking forward to what these fuckers do to Betty Boop. Given the perrenial REEEEEEEEing about the character being whitewashed from a proud black womyn I genuinely am hyped to see her resurrected in a series of youtube shorts with early David Firth tier animation returned to her superior black skin and now with this stunning and brave new body type
Be thankful you are allowed to die with something of dignity instead of being unceremoniously dredged up and have a stick shoved up your ass to shoddily entertain people who most likely never heard of you.
I dread the point when we can raise the actual dead they'll do similar shit to us.
