  • Sustained Denial of Service attacks. Paid for botnet. Service will continue to be disrupted until I can contact other providers and arrange a fix.

I'm morbidly curious about what sort of 'accessories' they could be thinking about producing. I'm not really sure I like where this is going.

this really is the life upgrade for Chris. not also does he get accomplishments he could perform on the ps4, but he also gets his own selection of girlfriends on it too? He's going to sign up for that shit.

It won't last, so get 'em while they're hot.

Trying to get an authorized app out for a console is a process resembling the biggest anal probe you can imagine lubricated with rock salt and tears. Sony could easily brick ever PS4 with the app on it, but they'll brick the developer instead. Thirty seconds' work tells them the serial numbers on the dev systems, who exactly compiled it & when, all about the PC it was connected to, and every nauseating detail about the server living at the top of the foodchain.

The big boys take the game very seriously and have for a long time (heh heh, Dreamcast excepted). Ain't no way to sneak something in past them.

The article said the guys at Pornhub are having communications with Sony, although that could mean anything. I'm wondering if Sony is going to give it the green light, considering how porn has swayed the media in the past. Porn supported the VHS over the Betamax, and Blu-ray over HD-DVD, and look at what we ended up watching shit on.

If Sony does take it, however, they'll have a bit of an image problem on their hands. You know your average soccer mom is going to hear this and veto any attempts by their kids to get a Quad. On the other hand, I can see loveshies, wizards, and those other unsavory types, especially if they go through with the 'accessories' claim. Eeeeugh.

If Sony does take it, however, they'll have a bit of an image problem on their MANOS. You know your average soccer mom is going to hear this and veto any attempts by their kids to get a Quad. You have a point, there. There's money to be made, and that's kind of the whole point in the first place . . . but there's money to be lost, too, if parents don't buy consoles and games for the wee ones. Sony'd have to do it so it didn't LOOK like they approved, and that could be tricky.

Getting stuff through Sony was a pleasure compared to Nintendo, but it was still a PITA. The game I worked on at Midway had a crash bug we cured after they'd approved gold master (like the next freaking day), but the buggy version was the one that got published. Releasing the fixed virgin would have meant starting all over on final test and would have delayed rollout by two weeks if it all went perfectly. It also would have required Midway to do something intelligent, clearly out of the question.

To be fair, you can access porn from nearly anything these days. Even a DS, because anything with connection to the internet and any form of a dedicated browser can be used for porn. So I don't really see the difference an app makes when any dumb snotnose can type 'boobies' into the browser for a laugh and have his face melt with the amount of skin on display.

We shouldn't always be catering the world to kids. Make the app require a credit card to access. If a kid has access to a credit card, something tells me they're into other trouble.

Well, you can get a pre-paid card for like 5 bucks, so not too hard.

And you can go to the public library and look at porn. Or at school. Or on a cellphone most kids seem to have these days. Or on a PS3 browser. Or a 360 browser. Or a Wii. Or a DS. Or a Dreamcast (LOL). Or a home PC. Or a tablet. I think you get the gist here.

Maybe make the app something that only an adult could set up, like with a major credit card actually in someone's name (I guess I should have clarified but I thought it would have been obvious), or maybe parents could police their kids and control what media they do and don't have access to. The PS3 has settings to limit accounts and what they can and cannot do or access (like preventing use of Internet browsers or downloads) but asking parents to actually parent may be too much hard, stressful work (:_(

A lot of digital distributors have cards that let you buy points for cash. Even Steam has them now

I was talking about a service like Netflix which you have to actually subscribe to using a major credit card, which is How I'm guessing such a service would work rather than off of PS points.

I still have a hard time thinking Sony would do it, the moral crusaders would go nuts.

They're probably working on the logic that wankers outnumber moralfags by a grand proportion. :pickle:
