Possessor (2020) - Written and directed by David Cronenberg's son

Possessor follows an agent who works for a secretive organization that uses brain-implant technology to inhabit other people's bodies - ultimately driving them to commit assassinations for high-paying clients.

Watched it last night, it was pretty good. The body horror elements -just like in his father's films- are all there, the plot has a Black Mirror vibe to it, and the ending is ambiguous, on purpose I imagine.

Pretty enjoyable so far if you're a fan of Cronenberg's work. If you enjoyed "Upgrade", this one will be right up your alley too.

Set sail to the high seas and grab the uncut version, it contains a few more minutes of all that nasty body horror shots Cronenberg fans are into.

Look interesting. I'm a big David Cronenberg fan, especially his early body horror stuff, and his son seems to have inherited that same sick imagination. I'll definitely check this out when I can.

I was always sad that David Cronenberg turned his back on body horror, so his son taking up the slack is really cool.

To be fair, he peaked with The Fly. How do you follow that up? Maybe he thought he couldn't outdo himself anymore? That seems more than plausible.

I've really been enjoying the stuff Andrea Riseborough has starred in lately. Liked her in Waco, Zero Zero Zero and Mandy. Unfortunately, not so much in the Grudge reboot, but that wasn't so much her fault. Are any of Brandon's other films as good as this one?

WTF is up with this "Existenze is great" bullshit?? It got routinely trashed for years and years as his worst film. Now suddenly dudes like it, go figure.

I hate it. I love Cronenberg but it's the most "Okay, boomer." Take on video game/VR man/machine interface shit.

Dead Ringers is good. Albeit a little overrated maybe.
It's incredibly monotonous and for what? I could see this ending from a mile away. The only difference, that I thought one brother is going to kill the other consciously by that trying to become whole

It was still pretty good. Mainly because of Jeremy Irons. Only problems I had with that one is that it was a little over-long and I hated the love interest they had. The actress wasn't attractive at all and had zero chemistry with Irons. Perhaps that was intentional? But it didn't make an interesting character.

Of course I can't find the scene on YT where Irons calls in and gets the assistant to the actress. Then tells him if you put your finger inside her, you're not feeling a human woman but a fish.

Great scene.

I didn't say it was great, I said it was pretty good, it's easier to like it today since he never made another body horror movie, so have to take what you can get.

You are right about it being "okay, boomer" in some respects regarding video games, but there's still some wonderfully Cronenbergian stuff like the biological technology (that you turn on by stimulating a nipple) and the bone gun that fires teeth, how can you not love that?

It's rough around the edges sure but still a solid movie.

Naked Lunch will always be my favorite personally

It's weird to think that a mainstream company like 20th Century Fox put that out.

I saw this at the cinema back in October. For some reason there were kids in the cinema despite this being rated R here in Alberta (Canada's NC-17)

Anyways, it was lots of fun. Tons of squeamish gore moments and excellent special effects. Great performance from Christopher Abbott (oh and getting to see his cock twice was a nice little bonus surprise), I will say there were some things about its concept that don't add up but after a second watch thanks to getting the screener, I've concluded they're mostly just things that come with this type of movie so it wasn't as much an issue this time around. Anyways, great, gory fun, 7/10.
